meyerhaus Posted July 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2004 I am sure that this will be fun, but I have to ask. My very, VERY favorite footwear in the world is my pair of Doc Martin Sandals. Here is a link to the picture: http://www.wildfree.com/dmimage/dm809254007.jpg. My question is, can I wear these in the dining room with a nice pair of slacks and button up shirt. I don't need the fashion advice; I know my fashion. I just need to know if the sandals are going to make people upset. I wear them with just about everything. THANKS!! DoniaG Posted July 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Sure won't upset this fellow passenger! As long, that is, as you don't wear them with white athletic socks. EEEUUUWWWW! See you Sunday!!! Donia

gopher's girl Posted July 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Yes - wear them. You're on vacation and unless your feet are on top of the table nobody will notice anyway. Aren't they great? I love mine! Almost wore them to work today but remembered I needed to go to a meeting!
DoniaG Posted July 7, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Go for it. No one's going to be looking at your feet. Good point, Pam. Nobody who looks high enough to see the top of Jon's head at his 6'4" is going to scan down far enough to see his feet!! Donia
DoniaG Posted July 7, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2004 DONIAG: You mean like this guy? http://www.badshoe.com/images/sept01shoe/guysox01_small.JPG Yeah, Jon, that's the look. But if you're going for it, you have to wear shorts instead of long pants so that everyone can appreciate your fashion statement! (Where do you find this stuff, anyway!) D. Druke I Posted July 7, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 7, 2004 With his tux? I agree it might look a bit odd, white sox, sandals, and tux! Perhaps it might start a new fashion trend.
DoniaG Posted July 7, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2004 The bottom line is - if his wife is just half as pretty as the pic he posted, no one's going to notice what Jon's wearing! D.

billybob123 Posted July 7, 2004 #12 Share Posted July 7, 2004 My wife wore very similar sandals every night including formal night in the dining room - no one ever looks at your feet anyway! One of our tablemates lost his shoes during the trip down and wound up wearing flipflops every night (including formal) and no one even noticed. If he hadn't told us, no one would ever have known. Hornet Posted July 7, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Jon, I thought we were going to see a picture of your shoe with your naked foot in it. Of course, you could wear black socks pulled up high with your formal clothes.
meyerhaus Posted July 7, 2004 Author #14 Share Posted July 7, 2004 As a DJ, I have often wondered what someone would do if I wore my blck flip-flops with my tux... I would wear these...black patent leather sandals! http://www.maui.net/~romance/shoe.gif

DesrtDrmr Posted July 7, 2004 #18 Share Posted July 7, 2004 I wear sandals to every meal, including formal night. merela Posted July 7, 2004 #19 Share Posted July 7, 2004 He wouldn't wear the dress shoes I bought him, but he was willing to wear the dark socks plus his favorite sandals (a pair of sandals which look just like the one pictured) on all formal nights. Nobody said anything to me! Jennifer
beachnative Posted July 7, 2004 #20 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Sandals??? Is there any other form of shoe, for man or woman, to wear in the summer??? I was going to ask if one was allowed to go barefoot in the dining room. Also guys, in the summer if you must wear shoes, don't wear socks........well, maybe on formal night (and that's a maybe). rxmurphy Posted July 7, 2004 #23 Share Posted July 7, 2004 I think Jon's sandals would go nicely with a green slingshot :D
Spicey477 Posted July 7, 2004 #24 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Actually, plain black flip flops (not the patent leather or Docs type) are "in" as a summer alternative to those patent leather shoes with a tux or a dark suit. Of course no one mentioned that you have to make sure your feet have had a nice pedicure if you are wearing them on formal night!:)
kruisey Posted July 8, 2004 #25 Share Posted July 8, 2004 I have a pair of' 'Clarkes of UK'black sandals with black rubber soles. Wear them just for the dining room casual or formal under long skirts with long black stockings. Will not wear evening shoes or heels on board just scared of slipping on the Marble Floors outside the dining room... Then always use the stairs so feel safer with this type of shoe.....also the weather can change and be choppy. Its just 'tough nuts' if someone objects because thats what I will continue wearing !!!!!!!!!! If we ever meet on board Meyerhaur we can both lift our skirts and pants and do 'The Sandal Dance'
