Best time of year?

My husband and I are thinking of taking an Alaskan cruise next summer, and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions as to the best time to visit. We are on a teacher's schedule, so mid-June to mid-August is what works for us. I didn't know if there was a particular time during the summer months that was best.

 

Also, just wondering what the difference is between sailing Glacier Bay or Sawyer Glacier. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks much! :)

The weather changes from one year to the next, but based on the weather so far THIS August, I wouldn't want to go then. We're cruising June 6-13, 2007.

There are no guarantees on weather. I've been touring Alaska for over the last 10 mid to late August.

 

Go with what fits your timeframe best.

I gotta agree with BQ. The weather really is unpredictable, so book what works for you time wise (and financially) then cross your fingers.

Our cruise was from June 24th - July 1st, and we had rain/cloudy skys every day, highs in the 50s-60s. The following week was 70s and sunny.

 

So you never know. :)
