ECBoca2 Posted August 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2006 Looks like we'll be running into rain for Aruba and Curacao. Any good suggestions - this is our first visit to these Ports? Thanks all who answer!
Alexis Posted August 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2006 Looks like we'll be running into rain for Aruba and Curacao. Any good suggestions - this is our first visit to these Ports? Thanks all who answer! Go to you local Dollar store and buy some of their raincoats/ponchos to take with you. If it rains on your ports, put them and go and do everything you planned on seeing, including shopping. Never miss doing a port because of rain. ;) If a tour is canceled, just go out on your own and do the towns.
cb at sea Posted August 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2006 The only thing you may have to skip is the beach, if that was part of your plans! Aruba has lots of indoor stuff--shopping, restaurants, casinos, etc... I know, I know, I'd complain if it rained, too, but think of it this way--at least you're not at work!!!!! bobbie0253 Posted August 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2006 I agree, don't let it stop you :) Bring an umbrella and find some mud puddles to jump in :D Seriously, we cruised once and the forecast said rain everyday. We had some on and off down pours in St. Lucia and the rest of the week was sunny and dry. You just never know. I would just plan on getting wet and having fun. It's an adventure! wrp96 Posted August 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2006 Depending on the rain, I'd still go to the beach. I love the ocean at any time.
leoandhugh Posted August 25, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2006 from one who lived on Aruba for many years, when it does rain there, it is usually a squall over and done with quickly - the average annual rainfall is less than 20inches.
Treven Posted August 25, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2006 A couple years ago on the Star, we were on our way to Fanning Isl when we hit a storm. They were right in the middle of one of the nightly parties but did that stop anyone? Of course not! By the next morning we had gone through the storm and the party was still going on. Nurse Daybreak Posted August 25, 2006 #9 Share Posted August 25, 2006 On our cruise last January it rainy in both Aruba and Curacoa. The rain in Aruba lasted 20 minutes at which point we stopped at a bar with a covered upstairs balcony and had a berr and watched the world go by. The sun began to immediately shine again right after. In Curacoa we were scheduled for the dolphin swim, It sprinkled a little while we were in and then downpoured for about 1/2 hour after. We really didn't mind as we were already wet. The seal and dolphin shows continued in spite of the rain. If you can afford the dolphin swim it was worth every penny. I was hesitant to take it as I thought "Oh, they'll just let you in for a few minutes and that will be all." We swam with the dolphins for a full 1/2 hour. They taught you to have them give you a kiss and pull you through the water. We spent the next few days just walking around saying Wow.:D
glndr Posted August 26, 2006 #10 Share Posted August 26, 2006 On our cruise to Aruba it rained so we went shopping. I wound up with a diamond anniversary ring:) It did stop raining in the evening and we did the Kukoo Kunukoo(sp). It was the party bus that took you to a bunch of local bars as you sing and shake your maracas. Lots of fun.
SharonoftheSeas Posted August 26, 2006 #11 Share Posted August 26, 2006 Just wear your bathing suit, a thin coverup and a baseball cap and go!! If you do get wet, you will dry in a short amount of time. You could do the plastic ponchos, but they are so hot, you might as well just get wet and be cool!!
