Brenda33 Posted September 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2006 Can you leave your car at the port in NY if you decide to drive? Does anyone know what it costs and if you need to reserve a parking space? Thanks again....:)
TomBxyz Posted September 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2006 We just got off the Spirit last week and parked at the pier. We didn't need to reserve a spot and there seemed to be planty of spaces. It is pretty pricey, $180 for the week, but it was convenient. Enjoy your cruise! shelly2176 Posted September 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2006 We just got back from the Dawn and parked there. First, don't use the directions on the NCL website...you should go through the Lincoln tunnel, not to the GW bridge. 2nd-no reservations required 3rd-Our cost was $168 for a 7 day cruise. TomBxyz Posted September 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2006 The Spirit was 8 night so that's why it was $180 for us. Looks like it will be a little cheaper for the 7 night Dawn as Shelly mntioned.

Always take GWB from Jersey to Pier. We much it much easier than Tunnel

We much it much easier than Tunnel If you're coming from points south ... definitely take the Lincoln Tunnel ... why go all the way up to the GW to come back down to the piers? Cassandra Posted September 13, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 13, 2006 If you are a nervous driver, don't like tight spaces - as in being inches from another car passing you - don't drive. Drivers in NYC are nuts, cab drivers aren't much better. And if you have road rage? FORGET ABOUT IT... I've driven to the city since I use to live in Manhattan. I'll take the train & catch a cab anyday of the week.
smeyer418 Posted September 14, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 14, 2006 last week on the Merritt in Ct...a connecticut driver pulled out from a stop sign in front of a pick up truck and then had the nerve to yell at the truck driver and oh yes she was eating an ice cream cone....and you think NYCity drivers are bad. personally I find the worst drivers(and insurance rates to match) are from Mass. NY has agressive rules but they do follow them. MA drivers refuse to alternate feed to see who will blink first..

Does anyone know what it costs and if you need to reserve a parking space? Thanks again....:) If you are coming from the north, Metro North is a great option. I always leave my car in Poughkeepsi for $20/week, round trip train in- $25. 42 bus from Grand Central and a few blocks walk to the ship- $2. Doing it again Sunday. :)
