dfishner Posted September 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2006 I know I have seen this, and also remember it when I was on my last cruise. I did search the site but could not find it. What are the benefits of putting a deposit on a future cruise when on a current cruise?
Sheffie Posted September 4, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2006 On Board Credit. (OBC) For short cruises you will receive $50 per cabin, for 6 - 10(?) day cruises you receive $100 per cabin, and for long cruises you receive $200 OBC per cabin. You will put down the regular deposit, and can change cabins, ships, dates and keep your OBC IF YOU KEEP THE ORIGINAL BOOKING NUMBER. If you plan on cruising RCI or Celebrity, it is a no-lose situation.
brn2crz Posted September 4, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2006 The biggest benefit is it greatly reduces the effects of PCD :D
Cape Cruiser 2007 Posted September 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2006 Brn- I was thinking along same lines! No cruise withdrawal since you know you have another booked!
CRUISENAV8R Posted September 5, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2006 You also get to see ALL of the available cabins. Much easier to choose the hump or an aft!
shalee1377 Posted September 5, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2006 Ok, perhaps I was wrong but I thought if you booked while on board the deposit was cheaper. Normally on a 7 night cruise the deposit would be $250 but I thought I had read that you would only put down $100 if booking while on board???? Can anyone confirm this? Diane&4girls Posted September 5, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2006 The deposit is the same.
flagger Posted September 5, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2006 A couple of benefits: 1. On board credit 2. Full choice of available cabins not always available either online or to your regular TA 3. Ability to extend your deposit due date

RCI's deposits are the same whether you book onboard or from home. Princess does offer a $100 deposit option to those who book while onboard and it can be applied to a cruise that you designate after you return from your current cruise.
