Does anyone have any knowledge of good private guides in Oman ?

 

I recommend this tour:

 

MUSCAT IMPRESSIONS- Half Day City Tour (4 hours duration)

 

City tour starts in the morning at 08:30 with a visit to the the Grand Mosque followed by a visit to the Natural History Museum, which has some excellent collection of the bye gone era. Later we will visit the walled city and the Old Town of Muscat. Enroute we will have a photo stop at the Al Alam Palace, the Royal Residence of His Majesty – Sultan Qaboos and then to 16th century Portuguese built Mirani and Jalali Forts. Later we visit the Muttrah Souq where the shops sell the traditional Omani items like the Khanjars, Dallah (Bronze Coffee Pot), the exotic spices, the Frankincense etc. (To enter Grand mosque dress code for Ladies should be fully covered with scarf and wear full sleeves shirt and Men are not allowed to wear shorts)

 

PRICE : US$ 78.00 BY ONE CAR WITH DRIVER

Hello. I am interested in the 4 hour tour in Muscat you describe. Would car hold four passengers? Would driver speak some English? Date would be Monday, April 23. Thank you. BobinVan

I am just a customer of that tour operator, you should ask nt&t in Muscat/Oman.

 

I would imagine a car would hold four persons. We will go on April 9th and we are only two.

$ 78 is the best fare I found so far, others take $ 90 for a half day tour.

Yes, they do speak English.

Peter thanks for the suggestion and information. Yes, $79 for a car and driver for 4 hours is an excellent price especially if shared by 4 passengers. I shall contact the company as you suggest. It seems you have already done so. Cheers, bobinvan

yes, we used Gulf Ventures and were very satisfied by them.

 

I was wrong, when I said we used GlobalToursOman, I mixed it up, sorry! We did not use National Travel&Tourism Oman either.

 

When will you go to Oman, what ship will you be on?

We will board the QV on janury13 for the World Cruise. We return back to NYC on April 28 on the QM2 from Southampton. This is very exciting!

 

Jeanne,

 

I´m sure you will have a wonderful very looong cruise.

 

BTW we will be on QM2 for the second time on July 22nd when we will be on her from NYC to Hamburg.
