fjmcd Posted August 25, 2009 #1152 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Last night I got the Sheraton Old San Juan (3/4/10) for $75.00 on Priceline. Three and a half stars
Michael Kays Posted August 25, 2009 #1153 Share Posted August 25, 2009 WE just won Intercontinental 10/28 through 11/01 for $95 plus taxes. Our plan B was Marriott which I was hoping to win on Priceline, but after reading reviews I am just as happy to get Intercontinental. This was my first time bidding on Priceline, I wish I had read this thread previous as I would have used the free rebid using zones that do not have a resort. OH well, we did good out of the shoot. I will be bidding for 1/22/2010 one night Miami Floprinda soon..any advice? Our plan B is Holiday Inn Port of Miami, currently 2 rooms @ $199 ouch.. Our plan B is Holiday Inn Port of Miami, currently 2 rooms @ $199 ouch.. Same process for free re-bidding, whichever zone that does not have your original hotel star level or above can be used as a free re-bid. If priceline is not an option for you, then I recommend the Palms in South Beach or the Mandarin Oriental on biscayne bay (the MO is only 5 mins from the port . . love it!). amo2cruise Posted September 1, 2009 #1155 Share Posted September 1, 2009 I've been reading all these posts about San Juan Resorts like Intercontinental and Marriott Stellaris hit on Priceline for like $90-$120 but I've been bidding up into the $140 range and not getting anything. I'm bidding for 2 nights: Jan 8 - 10th, and 2 Rooms. Is it because I'm bidding for two rooms or is that weekend just high demand? Anyone else try Priceline for Jan 2010 recently? sweetair Posted September 1, 2009 #1156 Share Posted September 1, 2009 arno: if you dont mind getting the la concha... Add 4 star, san juan to your list and reduce the price again to about $95. (also possibly the conrad @4 stars but not have seen this won yet) When you add 4 star, priceline can upgrade you to a resort! That gives you a couple extra bids per day. Just remember bidding on resorts, you can also get "stuck" at the caribe hilton. I like it there, just off the beaten track. I checked hotwire for you..It appears that the IC is $186 plus taxes. That could be why you arent getting any nibbles at $100. Dont get caught up and bid too high. You might get a hotel at $150plus I think PL is cyclical and it may go down. If you are worried Get yourself a FULLY CANCELLABLE back-up hotel then relax and keep bidding. Good Luck, *sweet*
Michael Kays Posted September 1, 2009 #1157 Share Posted September 1, 2009 two weeks ago I bid San Juan Resort 4 nights October 28th through Nov 1st and got Intercontinental for $95.00. I think you are bidding too far out. I am having the same difficulty bidding Miami 4* for Jan 2010, I have been toldf by betterbidding folks it is high season there and too far out. Maybe same holds true for SJ
love2vacation Posted September 1, 2009 #1158 Share Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) I'm new to Priceline, but thanks to all of the good advice here I got two rooms at the Marriott for 1 night next May for $110! So there goes the theory that we are bidding too far out!;) I don't remember bidding more than once when I used priceline previously. My daughter has been trying off and on for a couple weeks bidding resort and adding zones with no luck. I started helping her out (bidding for her when she has used up her re-bids) and I am not having much luck. We have our hotel (used points for a free stay) but they still need a place. They need Feb 5th 2010. Has anyone had luck with February? It is a Friday night. sweetair Posted September 1, 2009 #1159 Share Posted September 1, 2009 you are not bidding too far out! we have bid 330 days out and have gotten great deals. You just have to get "lucky". Dont give up. As i said before Just have a cancellable back-up hotel you can live with. *sweet*

The weekend is probably high demand or they aren't releasing more rooms for priceline yet. I booked 2 rooms for Jan 22 and won the IC, so it's not too early. Many have already won their the Feb hotels as well. However, they is only so much inventory the hotels offer priceline/hotwire. Book a cancellable room as a back-up and continue to bid from time to time, however, do not over-bid. You've got plenty of time, so right now is not the time to panic and over-bid. Thanks, They indicate you'd be paying too much if you use Hotwire! ;) On a serious note, we would need the date you are looking to get and any amenities that appear as well to let you know which hotels they may be. I honestly think the Sheraton wouldn't be too bad for them because they would enjoy walking around OSJ.

I guess I just wanted someone to confirm!!;) DD has 4 months to try Priceline so maybe she will keep plugging away. I honestly think the Sheraton wouldn't be too bad for them because they would enjoy walking around OSJ. Here's the Hotwire trick to confirm what hotel it is. Get the star level and all the amenities, then go back to the main menu and instead of booking a hotel only, book a package. Packages have to be at least 2 days so I put in Feb 4-7 and just did a hypothetical JFK to SJU package for the weekend you wanted. When you do that, it lists both the hotels and the amenities and you see what lines up with the hotel only page and bingo, you have it. They must be able to show the hotels when it is a package since the price you are getting is not for a hotel only.
