I scored intercontinental 4 nights @ $95 in October 28-Nov 1st. with my Ambassador Priority Rewards status that also gives me a guarantee free upgrade, plus all the amenities I think that is a good deal. I would wait until you are at least 2 m onths from cruise or travel before seriously bidding..I know some folks score with earlier bids but for the majority of the deals the closer you are to travel the better the deal. I always have a plan B hotel that i can cancel within a few days of travel. For SJ it was the Marriott

Wanted to thank everyone for the helpful info in this thread! Hubby and I are sailing out of San Juan in December and using the tips here I was able to book the Marriott/Stellaris for $100 through Priceline. Probably could have gotten it for less, but I'm thrilled. Marriott web site price is $175 (164 w/AAA) for the cheapest room.

Thanks, guys!!

Did you bid resort or 4 star to get the Marriott?

Thanks, DD has been trying to get a resort for Feb. with no luck.

Hi, Judi. I had never done Priceline before, but I put in the area that included all of San Juan, selected Resorts, and bid $100. Should have started at less, but oh, well. :) In a few seconds, I was told I had gotten a room at Marriott Stellaris.

Good luck!

I wish now I had waited a few days to try Priceline. My MIL has decided to book the cruise, too, so I need a second room. Of course Priceline doesn't let you add another room to an existing booking.

There are four "resort" level hotels in San Juan. Marriott Stellaris is 175, Intercontinental is 187, El San Juan/Waldorf Astoria is 249, and Caribe is 274. If I bid for another room and put in < $100, I can't imagine I would get the 249 or 274 rooms, but I might get Intercontinental instead of Stellaris.

I don't want to stick MIL in a different hotel. Wonder if I should chance it.

sigh ...

I have been trying also for 01/30 and no luck either. Bid up to $125. I'm going to put it on hold for a month and try again.

DD decided to wait a few weeks and try again. If worse came to worse they could always stay with us at the Embassy suites. They would have to sleep in the LR on the sleeper sofa but it would be free!;)

VTSnorkler..sorry to hear that, a bit surprising..maybe they have reached their max on rooms for now, or maybe a more popular week to cruise.

I got it on my 3rd bid...I low balled a bit, went with 99.00 and would have been floored if they took that in the high season down there..

GOOD LUCK...

Has anyone won Sheraton OSJ lately? Can you tell me for sure if it listed as a 3* and not 3 1/2*? I know on Priceline they list it as 3 1/2 so I want to be sure which one to use on Hotwire before I try. Thanks for the help.:D

If you haven't booked the Sheraton OSJ, I booked it the other day for $107 on Hotwire.

On Hotwire, the Sheraton in OSJ will appear as a 3 * with the following amenities: Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, Tennis Nearby.

Good Luck and see you on the Victory in May!! :D

If I want to bid for this hotel, what do I watch for - to ensure that I will probably get it? I read that you can find out somehow through hotwire but have never done this. If anyone can't send me the process, I would be so thankful for the support.:o

Just curious if anyone has ever booked a hotel at a higher price and then gotten the same hotel at a lower price through priceline. I booked the Sheraton OSJ through expedia for 2/17/10-2/21/10, just for the piece of mind of having a room booked. However, I'm planning on using priceline to try to get a better deal, and then cancel the Sheraton booking. Can I get a new booking at the Sheraton on priceline and then cancel the other reservation? Seems like they would have safeguards in place to prevent this.

Not opposed to staying anywhere else mind you. I booked the Sheraton at $229/night, so any other hotel at $120/night would more than make up for cab fare. But all else being equal I'd like to stay at the Sheraton.

Thanks!

Is your reservation on Expedia cancellable? If they are, then try Priceline.

The Sheraton OSJ is a 3.5* on Priceline.

Also, look at Hotwire - they don't tell you the hotel but you can usually figure it out.

Klepton...Go to Hotwire, search for San Juan area. The Sheraton will be a 3 * . The only 3* in the San Juan Area. Look at "all amenitis". It will list

Casino

Fitness Center

Pools

Restaurants

Business center

High speed internet access

Tennis nearby

This will be the Sheraton in Old San Juan. We booked this for our post cruise hotel for 2/14-2/15 2010.

I think you sail on 2/21. It shows at $105 per night (2 night total $236.62)

We booked La Quinta, Ft Lauderdale this year (using a code passed on by CC'ers) then got the same hotel less than half price through Priceline. Once I spread the word on CC, several from our group ended up there.

We have already booked a great deal for next year thru Priceline.

I got the Marriott Miramar for 70.00. Anyone ever stay here. It has good reviews although it isn't where I would have liked to be. I downgraded to a 3* because I wasn't getting anything for 3.5 at what I wanted to pay. I need 2 rooms.
