disneyaholicraquel Posted October 20, 2011 #2101 Share Posted October 20, 2011 I'm having a hard time getting on biddingfortravel so I will ask you. Did you add Mayaguez because they don't have any of those choices? TY Yes, that's why I added it. That way you can increase your bid a little but, still only end up with the area you want. SugarLover Posted October 21, 2011 #2102 Share Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) Was going to stay at El Convento prior to our cruise, but flights (using freebie vouchers) had already filled within one day of the airline posting their April flights. I ended up having to book flying in on a Wed (cruise leaves Sat nite) -- not that I mind having three days in San Juan! :D Since El C is so pricey, I went on Hotwire and Priceline. I found an offer on Hotwire for an unnamed hotel in OSJ that I suspected was the Sheraton -- for $89/night. So I went on Priceline, and bid $79 zone 8 - but was rejected. My second (and winning) bid was: Site: Priceline Hotel: Sheraton OSJ Rating: 3.5* Winning bid: $81/night Areas: Zone 8 (SJ) and 2 (Cabo rojo, which only has 1 & 2* hotels) Cost: 3 nites @$81 = 258 $5/nite travel refund/insurance $ 15 tax/fees $37 total $ 295 (which is what we would have paid for only one night at El Convento!) FWIW... I read somewhere on betterbidding that a frequent bidder always had success when he bid $1 more than a number divisible by 10. Hope this helps. blacksheep2 Posted October 22, 2011 #2105 Share Posted October 22, 2011 We have purchased a hotel room in San Juan from Hotwire. Usually they are just a little bit more than Priceline but with a little research you can usually figure out which hotel you are getting. I would definitely look at Hotwire for your dates. WE ARE ON THIS TRIP ALSO- have just started looking at hotels--did you book a room for this cruise?
erby2283 Posted October 24, 2011 #2106 Share Posted October 24, 2011 Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong area but can someone tell me what will happen when I check in with 2 people when I only booked for 1 person on Hotwire (I was able to find someone to share a room with me after I booked). Don't want to get in trouble
AryMay Posted October 24, 2011 #2107 Share Posted October 24, 2011 Been trying for sometime to get a San Juan hotel for 1/21/2012. I finally got the Intercontinental for $150. This is considerably more than what I wanted to pay and ideally I would have liked to have been in Old San Juan, but am just glad to have it booked and be done with the process. I had also been checking Hotwire and only a couple of hotels were showing available...one of which I assumed to be the Intercontinental for $167/night. The cheapest room through the hotel's website is $212 for an advance purchase. Between the expensive airfare and expensive hotel my "cheap" cruise is starting to get pretty high! Still looking forward to a great week...:)

Blaise Posted November 1, 2011 #2111 Share Posted November 1, 2011 I just won the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel & Casino on 4/5/12 - 4/7/12 for $89 per night on Hotwire. It's listed as 3 1/2 stars with Pool, Casino, Restaurant, Tennis Nearby, Fitness Center, Business Center, and High-Speed Internet Access. I've been here before. This is a good hotel that is right in the Old San Juan district. It's walking distance from the Carnival pier, but the Princess and RC pier is across the bay (There's nothing much on that side, though). The pool is on the roof and small, but a lovely setting (but you're not going to get beach and pool in Old San Juan area anyway; you want it for the access to OSJ). A couple good restaurants, including the Chicago Burger Company, which has cafe seating outside where you can see the ships.
debshomespun Posted November 11, 2011 #2112 Share Posted November 11, 2011 (edited) Just got the Sheraton Old San Juan through Hotwire for Jan. 26 to 28 for $87.00. Staying 2 nights pre-cruise before our Serenade cruise. Been watching the price for a little while, and it was $89. for a while, then went up to $91. yesterday and this morning, and came down to $87. tonite, so thought I better grab it up before it goes higher. Kikkycat Posted November 23, 2011 #2114 Share Posted November 23, 2011 Checked Hotwire this morning as we want to stay in OSJ for the 2 nights post-cruise in February. Saw the Sheraton OSJ at $114 but by the time I had registered and clicked the button, it said the deal was no longer available. So I checked Priceline and saw it in the named hotel section for $154, which led me to name my own price and succeeded! Sat. Feb 4-Mon. Feb. 6, 2012 Zone 8 (San Juan) 3 1/2* minimum $95 Sheraton Old San Juan Fees:30.94 Total $220.

Kikkycat Posted November 29, 2011 #2116 Share Posted November 29, 2011 For our one night pre-cruise on Friday 1/27/12, I was watching a special on Hotwire for $95 (down to $93 today) for 4 star, Rio Grande-Humacao area. I jumped on it (we were only lukewarm about staying in Condado at Radisson Ambassador, which we had booked directly with the hotel so can cancel it). Turns out we will be staying at the Wyndham Rio Mar. Looking forward to it! Hotwire 4* 1 night, Jan. 27, 2012 $93 plus 30.78 tax recovery charges & fees Total $123.78 Wyndham Rio Mar
TBird1 Posted November 29, 2011 #2117 Share Posted November 29, 2011 Just used hotwire and got the Le Consultant for $99 for our pre cruise stay 2/10/12. I don't think I got a super deal, just glad to have something booked. I've been trying priceline's name your own price for weeks with no luck. Kikkycat Posted November 30, 2011 #2119 Share Posted November 30, 2011 Nice ! How do you plan on getting there? Taxi or rental car? Any idea how much it will cost? We're renting a car. For the less than 24 hour period, it'll be about $35 - far cheaper than a taxi or their airport shuttle.

Sounds good. I'll check it out. Looks like it's $96 today on hotwire for Jan 28. Staying 1 nite pre cruise at isle verde and 2 nites post cruise which we have decided where yet. We Would like to try a different part of the island for once. Do you rent your car from the airport?
fridaythe13th Posted November 30, 2011 #2121 Share Posted November 30, 2011 I have been bidding over the past few weeks trying to get Sheraton OSJ for 4/27/12. Today I went up to $111 and was rejected!
travelplanner4thefamily Posted November 30, 2011 #2122 Share Posted November 30, 2011 Wondering if Old San Juan Sheraton is the only 3 1/2 star hotel in zone 8 or do you run the risk of getting a different hotel that is not in Old San Juan. Thanks Melissa

I was hoping to find a deal in april as well for 4-14-11 Try your date it might be different. I started at $70 last month. Someone got it for $83 back in October for 4/26 & 27. If you want to raise your bid and keep bidding 3.5* for SJ, add Mayaguez and then again with Cabo Rojo as they don't have 3.5* hotels but they will still be searching in SJ with the higher bids. Good luck!!
