cluelyss18 Posted January 24, 2012 #2152 Share Posted January 24, 2012 For anyone interested.........the friends and family code for Radisson is carlsonf. If you put the code in "promotions" and the rate is available it will usually come up at an $80 rate.....so you don't really need Priceline to get a standard room at the Radisson. We've stayed there but prefer the clubroom accommodations (higher floor, nicer room, breakfast, afternoon snacks, etc) but those are not what you get either with Priceline or the friends and family promo.Marty I did this promo code and it works, however it states I need the employee name and location at time of check-in...is this true?? travelplanner4thefamily Posted January 25, 2012 #2153 Share Posted January 25, 2012 I did this promo code and it works, however it states I need the employee name and location at time of check-in...is this true?? I have used this many times and was never asked. If I was I would have said a fake name that works in a radisson or country inn or whatever other hotel brands they own an said the work in housekeeping or something. Another thought is go to one of the brands hotel in your area or call get a name of who is helping you and use it. They don't keep track.
cluelyss18 Posted January 25, 2012 #2154 Share Posted January 25, 2012 Holy crap it went through! I was playing around and really didn't think it would work, but I chose zone 8, $75 bid for a 3.5 star in San Juan and ..... It said "it's in the bag!" lol I can't stop laughing because I really didn't think it was going to go through already, I wasn't totally prepared, but it's done. Radisson Ambassador three rooms $260.70 total for all three rooms...is this a good price? What is near the hotel? Can I walk to anything interesting? How far from the Carnival pier? Sorry for all the questions, but I haven't even booked the flights or cruise yet!

Sorry for all the questions, but I haven't even booked the flights or cruise yet! Looks like you now have to book a cruise. In my opinion you got a really good price. Hotels in San Juan are typically quite pricey. If my memory is correct I believe I have read that there are some restaurants and a CVS or Walgreens close by. What dates? martyap Posted January 25, 2012 #2158 Share Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) martyap..Thanks for that code. Do you know if it works for all Radissons or just the one in SJ? Thanks. Works at all Radisson Hotels but once you reserve it online using the code a pop up explains that check in will require the name of the Radisson employee who is "befriending" you. That's new this year. I'm guessing they will not honor the rate w/o the name. Edited January 25, 2012 by martyap

martyap Posted January 25, 2012 #2161 Share Posted January 25, 2012 Cruise leaves May 20, so we will stay one night on May 19th and then explore and relax while we are there.. Alyssa........the Radisson is in Condado and Carnival's pier is in Old San Juan. About a 20 minute taxi ride costing about $20. Condado is very safe with lots of shops, Walgreen's, restaurants, Starbucks, etc. There is also a public bus that goes into Old San Juan. The Radisson is near but not on the beach. It does have a lovely rooftop pool. Looks like you are there on a Saturday. About 5 minute walk to the right is the Marriott Stellaris........another 15 minutes in the same direction is La Concha Hotel. Both will be a hub of nightlife on the weekends.......La Concha is very chic. If you have never been to Old San Juan you could probably drop your bags off at the pier on Sunday and walk around OSJ for a while......enjoy your cruise. One more thing...What is an ok time to fly out on Sunday? I mean I've read some stories that it takes forever to get through the airport, should we plan on an afternoon flight? or can we do late morning? I'm curious because most of the flights after 11am are 220 and beyond..wont we be bored to tears waiting around an airport that long??

I would post your question on the regular San Juan threads, not the winning bids link. I believe most will suggest an afternoon flight just for piece of mind. Does not mean you could not make an earlier flight but there are risks. One thing in your favor is that it appears the Victory is the only ship out of San Juan on that Sunday. If you did risk an earlier flight you would have to do self debarkation asap......there are plenty of taxis waiting. Again, see what others say on the regular San Juan postings.....We are on the Summit in March and I have a 1:30 flight to JFK....Anything before noon is taking a chance.....Marty Edited January 26, 2012 by martyap

Cruzin-K Posted February 4, 2012 #2166 Share Posted February 4, 2012 Holy Cow  I'm a happy Priceline shopper (again). I bid on a resort in San Juan for April 21, 2012, for $125 and was rejected. I upped the bid to $135 and added in a four star hotel and it was accepted. We'll be at the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. I stayed there two years ago and got a two night stay for $115 per night. So I'm paying $20 more this time, but it was for one less night and the going rate for the rooms there is $249 so I'm very happy with what I got. :D
argentinita Posted February 4, 2012 #2167 Share Posted February 4, 2012 Have a question. Hotwire charge you, the value of the room plus an item called recovery taxes and fees. What is this? In addition to the value of the room is complemented with Puerto Rico tax and resort fee? Thanks

We also stayed at Sheraton Old San Juan and the San Juan Hotel and Casino, and liked those too.
Halftocruz Posted February 12, 2012 #2172 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Bid 125.00 on Priceline and won the bid right away. So 150.00 with taxes. Stayed there on my last cruise for about same price. Had an ocean view up high and it was a great hotel!! Little more worried this time as we need 2 double beds because there is 4 in the room. How do I make sure we get a room with 2 double beds? I don't care about a view. Thanks

masch100 Posted February 15, 2012 #2175 Share Posted February 15, 2012 For those of you bidding on the Sheraton Old San Juan Resort and Casino, beware that they are now charging an additional 11% service fee on all rooms. My $81 winning Priceline bid ended up costing $106.81 after the Priceline and hotel service fees. Caveat emptor. Mark
