clojacks Posted September 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I'm having a hard time dissecting the differences between a catagory 6A and 6B room on the Glory. We booked a 6B for the price of a 6A (supposedly) for the spring break (April7th) western caribbean cruise. I can't really get a good straight answer to know if this "upgrade" is really something to be happy about or if it is the difference between having 4 washclothes instead of 3....if you catch my drift. Should I have expected more of a break?? We received a past passenger rate, as did our friends travelling with us, for connecting rooms capable of sleeping 3 each. I keep seeing references to people receiving what appear to be much more substatial upgrades than we ended up. Realizing that our cruise is months away, might we anticipate the possibilty of an upgrade or discount as we get closer?
sw6416 Posted September 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2006 wouldnt that just mean the OP would be one deck higher with the 6b than the 6a
zaandam_2 Posted September 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2006 wouldnt that just mean the OP would be one deck higher with the 6b than the 6a correct. i always look what's above and below the cabin, so this may or may not be an upgrade. clojacks Posted September 19, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I'm not sure what an OP is?? So, the higher the letter, the higher the floor?? Other than that there is no difference in the rooms?

Other than that there is no difference in the rooms? OP means original poster, yes the higher the letter the higher the floor, cabins are pretty well all the same. Insides are alike, OV are alike and balcany cabins are alike. There are some with different configurations and some balconies are larger.

sw6416 Posted September 19, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 19, 2006 correct. i always look what's above and below the cabin, so this may or may not be an upgrade. I have found this to be very valuable research as well when booking my cruises nothing can spoil a good time trying sleep like a casino or dancing in a disco lol
clojacks Posted September 19, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I checked and it appears like we are directly below the Golden Restaurantor the front of the galley....I can't really tell from the deck plans online.... on the Glory. Speaking of deck plans, I have tried to print them from both the Carnival website and by copy and pasting, and can never get the whole deck to print? Any tips on what I might be doing wrong?? Leen729 Posted September 19, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2006 We are sailing April 14 on the Glory and are past Carnival guests. I got a break of $220 off our rate but do not anticipate any more reductions. We always book category 6B and are very happy with our cabin. gr81 Posted September 19, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 19, 2006 For catagory 4 and 6 the higher the letter the higher deck the room will be. For catagory 8 (balcony rooms) the higher the letter does not ALWAYS mean higher up because the size of the balcony comes into play. Personal preference will come into play after a few cruises and you will realize that higher doesnt always mean better, just higher.
