Should I bring my marriage license?

I'm cruising next month and just have a copy of my birth certificate not my passport yet. Should I bring a copy of my marriage license because my last name is different from my birth cert.? I haven't cruised since my honeymoon 2 yrs. ago and used my maiden name for that trip.

I never brought my marriage license - actually when I came back from Cancun in the spring I was asked by customs if I had it - I said no and they said OK (This was at PHL)

You should definitely bring it. I brought it just in case. I was on the Enchantment just two weeks ago and when checking in I only gave the lady my birth certificate and DL and she asked to see my marriage license. Thank goodness I had it. Better to be safe than sorry.

You may find someone who is very 'by the book' so you could have a huge hassel if you can't prove it's really you. Be careful though because some ports will require that you have a passport. You'd be much better off with a passport in a name that matches your travel docs.

I'm cruising to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Labadee and Cozumel. These ports should be ok with the birth certificate right?

unless you have a passport, (and are a married woman) the legal requirement is for the BC and the marriage license so it matches the photo ID. My wife has never been asked for it by Immigration, but always hands it to whoever is checking us in.

You do not need to bring your passport or birth certificate off the ship with you into port ONLY your ship's card and driver's liscense. Some people choose to carry their passports with them but it is not required.

I always carry mine just in case. I have only been asked to see it one time. It was on a land vacation to Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Better safe than sorry. You never know who or when they will ask for it. Better carry it!

On my first cruise I had asked the same question to my travel agent and they told me that I should bring any legal document showing how I got from one name to the other. They never asked to see it when we went through customs but I guess Its always better safe than sorry.
