We leave on Saturday and it isn't looking good for the weather.

I know a weather forcast is just that a forcast but..........it sure isn't looking good unless of course you love rain.

Tell me all the stories of how your cruise was supposed to be a rain out and you didn't have any.

Or tell me what to do for fun in the rain, when you're hoping for sun!

Every cruise I have been on it rains everyday. Not all day but at least once or twice a day we have somehow been in some rain. We didn't care. The captain knows what he is doing and usually avoids really bad storms. All the food is still there, the casino is open if it is a sea day. The spa is open and there are lot of activities planned onboard. If all else fails there is always a nice long nap to take. Don't worry you can still have a ball! Afterall, it is a cruise!

Just remember you going to get wet swimming anyway!!!!

On many of our cruises the forecast has said rain and so far (knocking wood very hard) it has always been beautiful, even a couple of weeks ago to Bermuda basically sailing in between Hurricane Gordon and Helene.

Remember that a forecast of rain doesn't necessarily mean rain all day long. They get bursts of rain in a lot of tropical places, so let's hope for that.

Bring some cheap rain ponchos and some extra books or playing cards.

Why worry? We cruised behind TS Beta last year in October... rained nearly the entire cruise... didn't damper our fun one bit. Our tan wasn't so great, but we weren't at work, we weren't cooking or cleaning... we were on the ocean on a beautiful ship... there are worse positions to be in :p LOL! You can't control the weather, no matter how much you worry... make the best of it :D

I was there and I've heard many people talk about it raining nearly the entire cruise.... I just don't remember that - guess it didn't slow us down much. I do remember the day we docked at Roatan it was raining, other than that it's all a blur.

Just returned from the Legend to San Juan, St. Thomas and Tortola. The forecast said showers every day. Was I bummed! The only time it rained was for about 5 minutes in PR and the sun was shining. Not a drop of rain otherwise. Sunny skies and 90 degrees. The most beautiful weather on a cruise yet!

I know it could be much worse, but we are a sun loving family, so the thought of rain is a bummer. I know DH and I will have a good time no matter what the weather but our DD on the other I don't know.

Our nickname with the rest of the family is the " the brown family" maybe not this time.

Ok, 60% chance of showers means nothing.....right?

This time of year in the tropics and subtropics, just about every day has a 60% chance of rain. :)

Unless there is a nearby tropical storm system, this means it will likely rain a little bit on most of the days. But we're talking showers lasting a few minutes or maybe an hour.

Don't sweat it.

LOL Mel, it was pretty much a blur! LOL! I remember by pictures, LOL!! It rained in Roatan which was normal (rain season), Costa Maya... which was fun :p LOL... I don't think it rained in GC... the worst was that first sea day. Belize was on and off... a little overcast, but not too bad. This was from the first day... anything on the floor floated away :p LOL! But we had a BLAST!!!!!

It seems that every time I have check the forecast for my cruises it always shows rain/thunderstorms. I can only remember rain 2 times out of 6 cruises and that was on board the ship once (Celebration 8/2004) and Grand Cayman once (11/2005). On both occasions they were passing storms and it didn't ruin the whole day. Like a previous poster said, it is that time of year for rain in the tropics. Have a great trip, I am sure you will still have fun either way.

I just got back from the Destiny this past Sunday. For the two weeks or so before and right up until the night before the cruise, all the weather websites called for rain at every port either all day or most of the day for the entire length of my cruise. I was bummed out.

I got to Puerto Rico on 10/1/06 to board the ship. Sky a little overcast but most sunny. Very humid. It was supposed to rain that day in PR. I thought, "hmmm, I can live with this weather.

Let me tell you . . . .

The weather at every island was spectacular. It could not have been better. There were just enough clouds in the sky (maybe 2) to give your skin very short burst of reprieve from the sun every few hours but not enough to even call the day "partly cloudy" and no humidity. The weather was God sent!!!! Beautiful -- Puerto Rico, St Thomas, Dominica (it rained in the rainforest for maybe 45 minutes -- but it is a "rain" forest -- rest of the island awashed in sunshine), Barbados, Aruba, Puerto Rico -- all unbelievable --upper 80's.

Remember island weather is not mainland weather so clouds seem to move more quickly across the islands and not just sit on top of one spot. Very unscientific but my personal observation.

Don't forget the sunscreen.:p

We cruised the same week as GoinCruisin... (10/30/05)on the Conquest. We had a great time - our sea days were really good and our 1st port in Montego Bay was beautiful with just an afternoon shower just before we left port. However, Grand Cayman looked like this. http://www.visualtour.com/show.asp?T=460338 It made our Stingray City tour miserable because the water was choppy but we enjoyed the port itself.

We then went to Playa Del Carmen and took the Ruins of Tulum tour. It poured down rain the entire time but our particular bus driver was prepared and had umbrellas for everyone. I learned from now on to have those disposable ponchos in my fanny pack. and will probably stick a couple of small umbrellas in the suitcase in case we need them.

LOL We were sitting on the Lido deck having mimmies and watching it rain. As the ship rocked, the water would flow from side to side. We had an excellent time. :D

We went on a cruise a few years ago and the weather forecast looked terrible. It showed rain every single day. I fretted for a month. As it turned out we got exactly 10 minutes of rain and the rest of the 7 day cruise was absolutely perfect!
