Promenade Stateroom

Recommended Posts

Has anyone stayed in one of the Promenade staterooms and what did you think of it? How was the noise level? We are thinking of sailing on one of the ships next yr. & I would like to try one of those rooms, but not sure.

We have always had an outside cabin, so I'm not sure if I would like it. Would appreciate any info you have to offer.

Thanks. :)

We had one on the Voyager and loved it. No noise and it's great to sit in the window seat and people watch! It also came in handy when we arrived late for the 2nd parade and couldn't get close. We ran up to the room and had balcony views! Better than ground floor views!

Definately make sure you keep your curtains closed when getting dressed - we experienced a view not so pretty sitings of our neighbors across the way!!

I wouldn't take it over a balcony, but would definately take it over an interior or ocean view any time!

Oh wow! You read my mind. Noise level was a concern I had as others have posted that they heard the band play. I have my son and my mother in law in a PR stateroom because my mother in law was afraid of water splashing her window. Now keep in mind we are on deck 8...BUT this is her first cruise and she is really worried about the feeling of being "underwater";) . Anyways, she also is a light sleeper and noise would definately be an issue. This helps me out a lot because I want her first cruise to be a wonderful expeirence for her. What deck were you on btw? TIA:) !

Had a PR on Explorer on Deck 6, positively loved it, no noise except during the parade which was okay as I was watching it from my window. I loved people watching from the window and never felt like I was under water. I would get another PR in a heartbeat.

We were on Deck 7. If you look at the deck plans on RCCL's web site, you will see that the prominade rooms are all towards the center of the ship - and just run the length of the promenade. You will definately enjoy them and it sounds like it would be perfect for your Mom in law.

OMG, that is too funny. Feeling underwater, huh? She does realize this is a cruise ship and not a submarine, right? LOL Sounds like something my mom would've said.

We've had Promenade rooms on both of our RCCL cruises, Deck 6 on the Mariner of the Seas. On the first we were across from the Country Store and heard absolutely nothing, this year we were over the Coffee Shop/ Cafe and could hear a band each evening that started at approx 6:00 pm and stopped at about 12:30 pm. We were in and out of the room during that time so it was not a problem, but if your mother or other family members are trying to sleep they will definately hear music in the evenings if they are at the end of the ship where the Cafe is located.

The Promenade rooms give you more of a hotel feeling rather than being on a cruise ship, and the sofa right by the window is a nice place to sit and read or have a drink.

If by "outside" cabin, you mean an oceanview and not a balcony, then a promenade should be ok for you. If it's balconies you've been used to, do NOT get a promenade--you will be so disappointed! It is an inside room, and they aren't very big--and it's artificial light that will be coming in you window.

i was debating between promenade and balcony, but went balcony for the time being. We really love to sit out at night and look out at the ocean, so thought that would be better.

I really like the idea of being able to see down on the promenade and watch the parade from higher up though. Are there other places you can stand to see it from above?

We have always had a balcony but this time booked a promenade cabin since it was a five day and just wanted to check it out. We opened the cabin door and we looked at eachother wondering if we would survive in such a small space. We were on deck 8 above the Crown & Kettle. The only time we heard any noise was during the parade or if something special was happening on the Promenade. Even then it was more of a muffled sound. We did survive (it wasn't so bad afterall), but I missed not being able to see outside. I personally would not get one again, but that's just me. Most people really seem to like them.

Yes there are areas to watch the parades from above. Open areas on the end of the Promenade where the parade starts and small "Juliette" balconies between Pr rms ...if you get there early enough!

cruised Voyager twice with promenades both times. Thought they were great. Had a balcony on the Mariner in September and not sure I would pay extra for one again, unless later in the year. Was so hot, we hardly used it. Missed seeing the parades from our window as we are not "crowd" people. Right now, would be thrilled to be in a inside cabin......LOL

Noise is not generally a problem as the window glass is quite thick. You will not hear any noise from routine activities such as people walking around the promenade, shopping, etc. so you don't need to worry about being awakened early in the morning due to people strolling about. You will be able to hear the noise from the two parades and occassionally from a band that might be playing in the promenade. A promenade cabin is better than an inside cabin since a view of anything is better than a view of nothing. That being said, a view of the promenade is still not as good as a view of the ocean. Overall, the promenade cabins are a gimmicky kind of thing. If the difference in price between inside and promenade is small, go for it. If the price difference is significant, I would opt for the inside cabin.

We had our sons in a Prom cabin and us in a balcony across the hall. We found ourselves going into their cabin to watch parades, people watch on the promonade. That window seat was a very relaxing spot. The boys slept in a couple of mornings and it was very dark with the drapes pulled and also very quiet. We only noticed any noise when the parade was running or they were using the microphone for some other event.

While we do prefer to sail with a balcony we would take a prom cabin if a balcony were not available.

There was plenty of room and storage in the cabin, you will be happy with one of these.

Of course a balcony would be my first choice. But we recently sailed on AOS in a promenade room, deck 7 and loved it! the room was not that small and the advantage of having the two love seats was good. Try to line up the deck plans and see what area you would be directly looking out at, in case that might be a consideration. We were directly across from the large clock and that was a good spot (7281), pretty much above the stairway entrance to the casino.

We recently took a 3 night cruise at last minute and had an inside cabin.

I do like the be able to see outside so for my next cruise I am really going to plan my cabin location to have the quickest route to get to an outside deck. The more you cruise the more you learn!

We decided to book a PR room for our cruise next year. My in-laws stayed in one and really liked it. They said the only thing that they were disappointed with was they were in one at the far end and had a few of the Centrum, not the Promenade, so we made sure to book ours towards the center and decided on Deck 8.

Can't wait to cruise on Explorer again:D

We booked two adjoining PR cabins on Explorer for Thanksgiving. While DH & I are quite fine sharing a bed:), our two sons aren't so keen on it! So, my question is...because of the layout of the room, are the beds able to become twin beds or are they "fixed" together as a queen, or will my boys have to flip a coin over the loveseat?

You can request to have the bed split no problem;) .

My mother in law and son will be in room 8561. It looks like it will be above the pig and whistle (just barely, at the end)...how would that be on noise considering that it is on the 8th floor? Thanks, all yur posts are very helpful!!!:D

The price difference was so insignificant especially since we received 125.00 off as opposed to the 50 off we get with crown and anchor. It actually came out to less $ than a regular interior cabin on the same floor once the coupon was applied. It was $66.00 less. For us, it actaully benefited us, plus we got a better room:D . My husband and I have the room across from it. It worked out perfectly...
