RCCL ships from the 70's?

Can someone refresh me on the names of RCCL's ships that sailed the Caribbean from 1978-82? I know one was the Nordic Prince, but I've forgotten the names of the others. I took a couple of 7 days, one 10 day and one 14 day trips.

The original three were SONG OF NORWAY (now the Israeli cruise ship DREAM), NORDIC PRINCE (now German-based Transocean Tours' ARIELLE) and SUN VIKING (now the Singapore casino ship OMAR III).

In 1982 the larger SONG OF AMERICA (now British-based Thomson Cruises' THOMSON DESTINY) was added.

Thanks so much for the info. Went to the Transocean site and viewed the pictures. We went on that ship in 1971 and had a spectacular 2 week Christmas cruise. It had seemed so huge at the time. Now it looks small compared to todays ships.

Has anyone else cruised on one of these ships?

We sailed on the Nordic Prince, Christmas 1988. Inside cabin was all we could afford at that point. Still loved it and had a great time. The Christmas gift from the ship was a LLadro Madonna. Got it home safely and it was the first of many Lladro's.

The next was 5 years later on the (now former) Noordham. Surprised we're still cruising after that one. Sorry all you Noordham fans, I don't get it, and I haven't been on HAL since. That's seven cruises ago.

But the Nordic Prince, I'd love to sail her again. Think I'd skip the inside cabin though, we're both a little larger than we were then

I Was a 1st. Purser on the Song of Norway, Sun Viking and Nordic Prince during the Late Seventies. Any crewmembers still out there.

Steve

I was also a First Purser and Crew Purser on the Song of Norway, Song of America and Nordic Prince, during the late 80s and early 90s! Small World. Regards, Ruy

Nordic Prince was my first RCCL ship and I sailed NYC - Bermuda with Captain Lief Otto Bang at the helm.

I believe that both Song of Norway and Nordic Prince were cut and stretched...a relatively new practice at the time.

The not so nice feature of the Nordic Prince and her two sisters was that you had to go out on deck on the stern and climb an exposed staircase to enter the Crown Loungs...not that great when it was raining or windy!

Song of America was also a great ship and was what I call RCCL's transition to the SOS, Monarch and Majesty.

Glad that all those old RCCL ships are still sailing somewhere...credit to their building and design!
