Goombay Smashes

I just read about this drink...Goombay Smash. It's suppose to be a favorite among Bahamians. Has anyone tried it? What's in it? I like trying new things but don't want to get "too loopy" off of just one drink but I'm willing to give it a shot! :rolleyes:

I had a Goombay Smash on my last cruise. Boy, was it sweet! Actually, too sweet for me. Even the cocktail waitress said "You don't really want that, it's too sweet"!

 

Don't know how authentic it was, but it certainly didn't make me loopy after just one (and I'm a really cheap date!) :D

Oh my, I haven't thought about a Goombay Smash in almost 20 years! And I guess in just over 6 weeks I can have one! Looking at the recipe here, one could always just up the lemon juice a bit, and leave off the dash of simple syrup. Sounds sweet enough to me without it.

What no Sky Juice? :-) DW had this at Goldies in April (I stuck to Kalik Gold). Sky Juice is interesting to say the least.

Sky Juice is just Gin and coconut water.. sometimes a little condensed milk.. Delicious.. but potent.
