rosesavels Posted October 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2006 I plan to stay in Miami after the cruise. Is there car rental services at the port? If not, where is the closest place I can rent a car? Thanks
pmatawan Posted October 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2006 I believe thrifty has a pick up location at the port, not sure about the others...
Bequia Posted October 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2006 There are NO car rental locations at the port. Avis has a downtown location a 5 minute cab ride from the port.
FrogCruiser Posted October 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2006 Hertz has a downtown location, too. If you have a post cruise reservation they pick you up at the pier and take you to their sitel...about 10 min away. You can rent there and drop at the S. Fla. airports, but not vice versa coming in-bound for some reason.
SqueakyDust Posted October 28, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 28, 2006 Frog Cruiser, what airports do you mean when you say S Fla? Does anyone know if you can hire one way from Miami to Orlando? We are considering a WDW and cruise holiday and I wondered if we were best to fly in one and out the other. We'd need a car around Orlando and for the drive to/from Miami. How long would the drive be, and is it an easy one to navigate? thanks.
TeaBag Posted October 29, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2006 Frogcruiser have you tried to drop off Hertz at the downtown location prior to cruising? We have a car booked and confirmed, pick-up at MIA and drop off at the downtown location.

Squeaky Dust, You can easily rent a car for a one way rental from Miami to Orlando. The major car rental companies do not even charge any extra fees for a one way drop off. The drive is very easy, two well marked routes to choose from. Your best bet would be to take the Florida Turnpike north all the way from Miami. Shouldn't take you more then 4 hours including restroom breaks. ;) ....
