Bisous3 Posted November 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2006 One thing I love to dream about before I leave is all the great food I'll be having during my cruise! Two of my favorites are the goat cheese souffle you get in the specialty restaurant and that cold cereal they have at breakfast thats a mixture of Muesli, yogurt, grapes, bananas, nuts, etc.... On Princess its the pizza- its THE BEST! What do YOU look forward to feasting on?
osiebosie Posted November 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2006 EVERYTHING!! ha ha Picking one best food is very difficult, though I agree with the goat cheese souffle. Some of the desserts were fabulous. All I can basically remember is that it's all good food for 11 days (for us) and I gained three pounds. caviargal Posted November 11, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2006 Honestly, I could not remember anything that stands out as memorable. On X the food is generally quite good but I keep to a low fat, lean protein diet all the time, so my needs are different. As long as its fresh and well prepared, it is fine with me. espmass Posted November 11, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2006 I can't think of one particular thing as I enjoy all the food. However, as a diabetic, I have found Celebrity has a large assortment of pretty decent sugar free pastries. The salad bar at lunch is always good too. Joby Posted November 11, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2006 The fruit soups!!! I had never had fruit soup before our first Celebrity cruise. Now, it's what I can't wait for when I cruise:)
SheilaNC Posted November 11, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2006 I agree...all of the cold soups are wonderful and the goat cheese soufle to die for!
Rich&Natalia Posted November 11, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2006 I'm really impressed with the way Celebrity prepares lamb. Rack of lamb with a side of mint jelly is probably one of my most favorite entrees during a cruise.:) -Rich
Lsimon Posted November 11, 2006 #9 Share Posted November 11, 2006 Well we love the goat cheese souffle too. Also had a new one in Oceanliners, the specialty restaurant on the Constellation - Steak Diane. It was great - the best steak diane I've had in many years if not the best ever. Hard to decide on my favorite in the regular dining room. Overall, I'd say it is more the combination of the presentation and variety of food more than one individual dish - as on the one hand no individual dish in the regular dining room is close to the best I've ever had for that dish, but I just love the whole dining experience and atmosphere on the ship in between the service and selection - and the fact that the food is all included. Where else have you ever had a waiter bring you an extra plate of something - or offer to bring you both when you ask for help deciding between two dishes? I will have to agree with Rich - the rack of lamb has always been a standout in the dining room for me. On our cruise just ended it wasn't on any of the regular menus! Of course when I asked the Asst. Matre'd about this the second to last night, I had a double order waiting for me at dinner the following night. What service! I also love the escargot, an appetizer that now is on the "available anytime" listings of the dinner menu. As for breakfast and lunch - the best thing is that we'll go ahead and eat things we love but don't normally have other times - like omlettes, fried eggs, and lots of bacon, pizza and burgers with fries. Not every day, but a few times during the cruise. Again the selection from delicous junk food to great healthy dishes is what really makes it nice. smdubowsky Posted November 12, 2006 #11 Share Posted November 12, 2006 We generally enjoy the food on Celebrity. Our favorite place to eat is actually the AquaSpa Cafe. The cold poached salmon is always excellent. While my wife is getting ready for dinner, I always sneak over to the Sushi Bar at the back of the buffet. Rich&Natalia Posted November 12, 2006 #12 Share Posted November 12, 2006 I forgot all about steak diane. Yup, that sure was a fine steak. I wish I had ordered 2 of them. As for sushi, I'm not sure if it's a permanent thing, but on our infamous Noro-sailing on the Connie, they were no longer serving raw fish. The only fish they had were eel and shrimp (both cooked.) I hope they go back to serving real fish soon. -Rich

RLM77 Posted November 12, 2006 #14 Share Posted November 12, 2006 Goat cheese souffle in the specialty restaurants. In the main dining room it's the "drunken chicken", aka coq au vin. As the CFM's say - excellent!
newtocc Posted November 12, 2006 #15 Share Posted November 12, 2006 My favorite dish is pyrex, it can get cold and it can get hot, and it doesn't break, I don't like ceramic, it's cheap and it breaks real easy, china is expensive, and there's no place in the trailor to store it, paper works fine but, evertime I try to reheat pizza in the oven, it bursts into flames! Hope this helps!
Luxuriate Posted November 12, 2006 #16 Share Posted November 12, 2006 I love the snails in the little individual butter bowls. Escargot, I think is how you spell it. I can't get enough of that. Actually, if they just served me the garlic butter and plenty of bread to dip I would still be in heaven. On the other hand, my husband's favorite dish is a "little Hungarian girl that works the craps table in the casino." He hasn't stopped talking about her since 1996! Funny, I was on that cruise and have no recollection of her at all! Great thread! Cheryl
Steamboatin Posted November 12, 2006 #17 Share Posted November 12, 2006 Really enjoyed their cold soups on our last cruise. All of the soups I was served I would gladly reorder on an individual basis.

florisdekort Posted November 12, 2006 #19 Share Posted November 12, 2006 The warm almond croissants you can get for free in the Cova Cafe during the early morning hours... Pair them with hot chocolate (also from the Cova Cafe) and you've already gained a pound by 8 am :-) Floris
Luxuriate Posted November 12, 2006 #20 Share Posted November 12, 2006 I really like the round slightly browned soft rolls served in the bread basket each night in the main dining room. Slightly sweet. MMMMM. I'm craving them now. Cheryl

Little sandwiches at 4 pm hold us over till 8:30 dinner Aqua Spa's cold salmon plate (I do eat healthy sometimes) Creamy Chocolate Martini (this is in MY food group) I don't think I've ever had a bad meal on Celebrity.
