Shore excursion in Tortola

late seating

Recommended Posts

Hello, We will be on the Sea Princess visiting Totola, for the first time, on January 23,2007. The shore excursion: The "Baths" at Virgin Gorda looks like something we want to do.

Does anyone know if we can do this on our own rather than with the ship's shore excursion? Reading reviews we thought we would like to stay longer than the ship's tour and have lunch while we are there. If CC allows please provide a name we can make contact with prior to our cruise.

Or, if anyone has taken the ships tour of the Baths any info will be appreciated.

One more: If shore excursions are critiqued on CC, how do we access it?

You can do this on your own. I remembering read about people who took a ferry over on their own - I believe they used Speedy's Ferry:

There is probably more info on this board concerning getting to the Baths: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=290

Doing the Baths on your own is very easy. Just a short walk to the ferry pier. Catch a ferry which takes about 30 mins to get to Virgin Gorda from Tortula. Once there, catch a cab to the Baths. There is a good place to eat lunch at the top of the hill where you pay to enter the Baths. Walk down the hill and you are there. When you are ready to go back, just catch a cab back to the ferry. You will love the Baths. Be sure to explore the caves.

JMike is correct. We did this last on our own. When we got off the ship we went to where the ferries run and we were pounced on by members of Smittys and Speedys. Can't remeber which one we chose but we had no problems.

The restaurant also has a nice pool you can swim in if you purchase something. We just purchased some drinks and had no problem.

Take some water shoes.:)
