We have always stocked up our bar on cruises in the caribbean- we were able to buy bombay sapphire gin for $11.00 a litre at the airport in PR. We are hoping they have deals on bomb. sapph. gin and jack daniels whiskey. Does anyone know if we can get those cheap in Acapulco, Manzanillo or ixtapa? Thanks for the info!!

KAHLUA!!! I usually find it in Mexico for about one/third the price I would have to pay back home...

Also, look for breaks on other Mexican-produced liquors and liquers...Tequila, Mezcal, for example...

You can bring one liter per person back to the US duty-free...but the duty really isn't that much...

Good luck...

You may find some Mexican-made liquors and hard booze that is cheaper (tequila, Kahlua, etc.) but alcohol made outside of Mexico is actually more expensive than it is at home. You will not find the duty free shops on the Mexican Riviera that you find in the Caribbean (except on-board ship).

Sheridan's in not gin. It is a unique liquour. The bottle is split in 2 sections. One side is coffee brandy and the other side is a white chocolate liquour. There are 2 holes in the spout. When poured down the side of a shot glass, the white liquor rises to the top and the coffee goes to the bottom, making for a split shot. Everyone loves it. It is nice to serve guests around the Holidays. It comes from Ireland.

We have a hard case suit case we use- lots of bubble wrap and some foam along with our beach towels and have never had any problems. We even claimed all of the liquor on our immigration forms and figured we'd have to pay tax on all those extra bottles but they never questioned us about it. We only buy the liquor that is a lot cheaper than in the states and that depends on the ports we go to.
