We arrived this morning at 9:30 as scheduled. We had booked a private tour with Fredo Tours and met him across the street from the pier. After introductions and making sure that we were his party, off we went.

 

What a delightful person Fredo is. His knowledge of his island is fantastic, and he was extremely informative throughout the whole tour. We saw a lot of the island and the normal tourist stops such as Emerald Pool, Trafalgar Falls, the Botanical Gardens, Mr. Nice fruit stand, and more.

 

Dominica lives up to its reputation as being a very beautiful island. It was interesting in the different climates where one side was a rain forest environment and the other relatively dry. The variety of fruits grown on the island amazed us. Along the way we were able to sample fresh guava, cocoa, banana, pineapple, grapefruit and more.

 

The views from the mountain tops were wonderful. Fredo was superb about stopping whenever we wanted to take pictures, and was more than willing to take pictures of us at various places.

 

We arrived back at the pier around 3:30 for a total tour of 5.5 hours. The cost for two of us was $80 which in our minds was cheaper, longer, and better than anything we could have gotten through HAL. The personalized care we received made it worth every penny it cost. Fredo’s attention and assistance while climbing the hill up to Emerald Pool was outstanding and ensured that Sharon didn’t have any problems with slipping etc.

 

We would highly recommend him for a tour to anyone who visits Dominica, and look for a surprise near the end of the tour!!
