How does HAL handle price reductions?

We are looking into a Westerdam cruise in February. The prices seem a little steep for that time frame and for us. :(

What are your thoughts, or what have others experienced with price drops or gains for cruises in the winter months? Since it is almost December, what are the chances that a mid February cruise will drop in price? Or, will it go up?

If we go ahead and book now, does HAL give refunds for price differences if there is a drop?

Thanks for

If the price is reduced 10% or more, HAL will refund the difference. This does not include limited time offers or sales of left-over cabins after final payment date. You'll find a number of threads here discussing the issue of booking early and getting the cabin you want versus waiting for last minute sale prices. There are pluses and minuses to both.

It all depends on the original farecode you were booked under.

I can tell you that prices have gone up on several weeks. If you are not picky about where you are on the ship, I'd look for the guarantees... inside/oceanview/balcony. Those rates will be the best out there.

Least expensive rates I've seen for 7 night Caribbean are on the Zuiderdam in the beginning of the month.

Westerdam has been holding her rates. Which itinerary have you been looking for? Aruba? If so, good luck. Those rates have gone up!
