How is the free iced tea on CB?

A question for all of you fellow iced tea lovers. How is the free iced tea?

Is it the kind that is brewed or not?

It is made from the same type of liquid the coffee is. DH just makes a strong hot cup of tea and then pours it over ice. He won't even touch the stuff served onboard.

I have no other complaint about the CB (or most other ships) when it comes to dining/food BUT the first thing I do when we got off a ship is stop at the first Wendy's for a humongous glass of sweet tea! Ice water is better -- no IMHO anything is better -- than ice tea on a cruise ship --and it's not just Princess either.:(

I do the same as the DH, but I add sugar to the hot tea. Let it brew until it is nice and stong and then pour it over ice. Perfect glass of sweet tea onboard any ship. ;)

I use to fight the crowds around the coffee and tea machines in the Horizon Court until I found the hot water & coffe machines out by the hamburger area. I fill my big mug with ice, put a tea bag in a cup of hot water and then pour it in my mug. It is real Lipton tea. DH gets his coffee there too. Sure beats waiting in line for tea.

Let's put it this way. If you had your eyes closed when your drinking it...you'd think it was ice water. :)

If you started drinking cheap tea before the cruise and get use to that taste, it will be fine. I tolerated it by adding sugar and fresh lemon. Still can't tolerate that coffee though first thing in the morning.

Tea isn't "sweet tea" unless the sugar is added as a syrup or while the water is hot so it dissolves. As a yankee who married a southerner I had to learn that lesson from my mother-in-law. She about blew a gasket when I offered her "plain tea" and sugar on the side.

The coffee on the Crown seemed to be better than usual - but the ice tea - UGH!!!!! It tastes like celery seed - a spice usually found in cole slaw - to me.

 

That tea bag idea sounds great!!!

Just got back today - cruised on the Grand Princess out of Galveston and the tea is NOT brewed. My husband and best friend could not drink it, I am not from Texas originally so I got used to it! :-) We ordered peach tea at the formal and they gave us SNAPLE!!

Actually, it used to be quite horrible-now it's at least drinkable with lemon and sweetener.

This is my first time on Princess....but on other lines, the tea is awful! So, I will be brewing my own coffee and tea! Why spend this much money on a vacation, and just tolerate the taste of sometime, or have to get use to it...yuck!

Hi all.

 

IMHO I like the ice tea served on cruise ships, and in particular Princess. I guess its because I am from Toronto and it is near impossible to get fresh iced tea served to you (It is the premixed syrupy stuff up here). I guess I just havent tried better. I do like the idea of making my own.
