Passport turnaround time?

We applied for ours on Dec. 2nd. through the Post Office & we received them today Dec. 27th., even with the holiday.

DH applied November 29th............we're still waiting.

We were told by the TA that the certified birth certificate would do. I did go ahead and put in my application for a passport, but we are leaving on the Feb. 12th cruise on Carnival Legend-that is in 7 weeks. We all got 2 copies of birth certificates; one to send with passport application, and one to take on the cruise if passport doesn't arrive on time. I had to go to my hometown's courthouse to get that. It was simple. It required my drivers license and $10.00 each copy. (my Mom, who is 82, got hers for free-senior privilege!) Dh got his b.c., but hasn't applied for his passport.

We checked the website today, and it says his passport is in the final processing stages, and that he should receive it on or before 01/06/07. That's this coming Saturday. Plenty of time before our Feb. 11th cruise. Glad we didn't expedite it.:)

DH's passport came in today, right along with our cruise docs:D His took almost the 6 weeks. It would have been exactly the 6 weeks on Tuesday.

Wife and I got ours back in 8 days, but we paid extra to expedite.

Where can we verify that we don't need Passports?
