Flat Stanley on board

Has anyone taken Flat Stanley onboard a ship? Where have you had him photographed? Any interesting places?

A few years ago we cruised on the Splendor for a 10-day with a couple of women who brought Flat Stanley onboard...one of the ladies was the grandmother of the student who was doing the project. She had photos taken at our CC meeting, with the Captain and with signs at the different ports. She also sent postcards to her grandchild from each port from Flat Stanley. Hope this helps and enjoy!:)

We had Flat Stanley with us on our Thanksgiving cruise! My grandson's other grandmother was there also so we had Flat Stanley twins! We took pictures at the floor ship by the elevators (one at each end of the ship) and took him to the Windjammer with us for lunch one day. He was at the pool, library and was seen looking at watches on the Royal Promenade :p

We had a great time with him and our grandson will have some nice pictures on Grandparent's day this spring!

Looks pretty stupid to me.

I had a flat Stanley sent to me in Nevada by my step granddaughter. The children cut him out and color him the way they want him to look. Then they send him to someone who lives elsewhere so that he can tour other places.

I took him all over Las Vegas, Henderson and every place I could think of. Except the casinos. That would be a no no. :D

He went horse back riding, swinging, visited the wild burros of Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead and just every where I went. We took pictures of him doing all these things.

I completed a small book of pictures and information about each picture as to where it was taken. I wrote all about our region, what it was like living in the desert, our schools and how many we had and anything else I thought would be educational to them. I sent it back to her to take back to her school. They read these to the other children in class who learn what different parts of the country/world are like to live in. We write what our home area looks like and what it is famous for. They also see the pictures with Flat Stanley so they can visualize all this.

Flat Stanley has been a learning experience for children for a long time and I would love to do another one here in NY.

I had as much fun taking him around as they had reading my booklet. I loved doing it for her. ;)

My granddaughter sent me flat stanley and we had a ball sending him all over the country. He went from California to Colorado to Chicago and all the way to Italy before he came back to California. We really enjoyed all the stories that went along with him.

Somebody around us did it with their neighbors lawn ornament. I believe it was a frog. Kidnapped it, and then shipped it all over the place and had it's picture taken and sent back to the owner. It was pretty funny.

The original owner had no idea what happened to their lawn ornament until they started receiving pictures of it from all over the world.

We have taken Flat Stanley with us on many vacations - he has his own photo album in our house.

We started it after our grandkids sent us Flat Stanley in the mail. They have taken his pictures to school when we come back from vacation.

He's been to Hawaii and Vegas - we have pics of him on slot machines and at a volcano in Hawaii.

We did forget him on our last cruise, though - he was packed in the wrong camera bag.

That happened at the MGM in Las Vegas. They had a Wizard of OZ theme and the display had Dorothy, the tin man, scarecrow, the lion and Toto. Well, Toto was kidnapped one day. From the Las Vegas paper: "It wasn't long before Toto was kidnapped -- with the hotel even receiving ransom notes."

I think it was about 8 months later he was finally returned from Canada. They said they wanted to show him other places.

A friend who taught in Saipan requested that I conduct a Flat Stanley project with my class several years ago. The class enjoyed doing this. We actually had students traveling around the state of Kentucky (on weekends) taking photos and videos. The class then made a scrap book and sent the collection along with the videos to the school in th Pacific. Was great PR.

However, I have never seen one on a cruises. There are pictures in our annual for that year.

We just took Flat Kincaid(our grandson) on our 25 day Star Princess cruise. He personally met the Captain, attended muster, met our table mates, met an English bobbie, met a glass cutter at the Waterford factory, observed icebergs off Greenland and more.

I had the opportunity to take FS with me one trip...

He enjoyed the hospitality of the Captain's Cabin where he was photgraphed eating at the Captain's Table and sleeping in the guest stateroom. Other events caught on film includedsitting in the Captain's Chair on the bridge and steering the ship.

On shore leave he was documented in San Francisco on the Golden Gate bridge, riding a cable car and driving down Lombard Street, visiting 'the roughest bar in America' while enjoying a libation with the fishermen in Dutch Harbor in the Aleutians. Finally we was caught hanin' out with surfer dudes in Hawaii.

The class I did this for had a great time putting the pictures on a large world map - each picture in the right place. They had a great time and learned a little geography. I admire the teachers who are putting forth some additional effort to be creative and am happy to support them.

While I do not have a Flat Stanley, I *do* have a bear that makes lots of travels with me. If you're looking for inspiration on where to take pictures of Stanley, or just looking to see the magnitude of the insanity of where this bear has been, you can see them at:

We took him everywhere on the Navigator last month. We took pictures of F.S. with the captain, on the pool deck, playing miniature golf, steering the ship,
How did Flat Stanley manage to get pictures steering the ship? How did you go about arranging for that?
