Princess Cruises' most traveled passenger, Lorraine Arzt, last week reached a milestone 4000 days at sea. Can you imagine? She is currently on the Sea Princess, and will move to the new Royal when it debuts this May. She spends about 10 months a year onboard Princess ships. She recently celebrated her 80th birthday.

Nope, Loraine is still in the hospital, at least she was 10 days ago when I talked to some of the staff on the Sea Princess. Those I talked to said they weren't sure when she was going to return to the Sea Princess.

Met her last year on our Sea Princess cruise.

The crew really does miss her when she is away though.

I am sure that the 4000 day mark is probably pretty accurate though.

This press release today said it was celebrated onboard last week on Sea Princess. It says it was celebrated on the bridge and Capt Kent presented her with a special invitation to the inaugural festivities of the new Royal in Santorini, Italy on May 12, 2007. Was there a stand-in representing her last week? Her son or daughter?

She may have returned shortly after we disembarked. But I can guarantee she was not on the cruise from December 9-23rd. The staff members I talked to were a bit worried about her.

Sounds like she did make it back to celebrate though, and very glad to hear it.

Toto, I'm so sorry to hear that she's in the hospital. I hope it's minor and that she's OK. I look forward to seeing her next year on the Royal. But, I can't believe she's 80!!!! She sure doesn't look that old. :)

Pam, after talking with Vlad in the casino and finding out she was in the hospital and not on the ship, he confirmed she was almost 80 at that time (which would have been only a couple of weeks before her 80th birthday). He agreed that she didn't look her age at all.

She means a great deal to the staff onboard, and when she is gone for any length of time off the ship, they really do seem to miss her. He said he missed all the green floating through the casino (and if any of you have met her, you know I don't mean green as in money but green as in dress).

Vlad was shocked when he found out we had met the year before and I knew all about her. He was trying to compare our days at sea to hers, and he had me ROFL when I told him there was just no comparison. ;)

But from this press release they are all talking about, she must have been released from the hospital and again joined the ship sometime after the 23rd of December. More power to her, I hope she makes it to 5000+ days at sea.

You don't suppose she would be very impressed with my 50 days or so, do you? Maybe it's time again for someone to resurrect the old thread to the effect "it's cheaper to live on the ship than a nursing home."

She (and her husband who has since died) were on our original Dawn Princess 91 cruise. They were most traveled on that cruise. :D

We also met Lorraine a couple of times, back in '98 on the late great Royal Princess. Not sure, but believe she was also aboard Royal Princess in 3-92, when we did a Panama Canal cruise.

She is fairly spry, for sure - but I would have pegged her as older than the 80 mentioned a few posts ago. She looked 80 (albeit well preserved) in the 90s.

Does anyone remember what year Lorraine's husband passed away? If not mistaken, I think we also sailed with both of them many years ago. Just curious.

Joe passed away in 2003 and I miss him as much as Lorraine and I read the press release yesterday and someone onboard confirmed she is still hospitalized as of yesterday in Los Angeles and that her house is being sold in Beverly Hills as well and she will be moving into a Hotel in L.A. instead of maintaining a home. The hotel name I am purposely witholding.

Lorraine doesn't look her age at all considering she's 80 but well preserved. For her Birthday the crew had done a Video Birthday greeting from several crew members on various ships such as JJ King, Chef Antonio Cortese, Giuseppe Franchina, Captain Micheal Fatchen and played it before the Movie started on the M.U.T.S. They played it over M.U.T.S and they had arranged for her to be there....apparently she was very moved!

I've got a lot of catching up with my 658 days at sea!

Thanks Tony,

Sorry to hear she is still hospitalized. I was hoping she would make it back to the Sea Princess for the Christmas sailing, but apparently she did not. :( Hopefully she will recover and make it to the Royal Princess for her christening.

Wow, we have a lot of catching up to do, she is really lucky to get to spend her days onboard meeting people and a great crew looking out for her, my kids will probably stick me in a nursing home somewhere!!!:D :D

Does anyone have the link to the press release???

It's actually cheaper to live on a cruise ship than most nice nursing homes. Maybe your kids will stick you on a cruise ship - bottom level inside cabin on Carnival.

Congratulations to her and best wishes for a speedy recovery! If anyone deserves to be on the inaugural of the new ship I think she is the one. I wonder if Princess would ever consider making her the Godmother to one of their new ships? It's not like they can be too picky - they did opt for Martha Stewart on the new Crown.

Guess I will have to be happy with Carnival then, maybe they will like the perks on Princess with the free internet and put me there - but maybe not if they want peace and quiet:D :D

Anyone know what category of cabin she usually has? Just curious. Hopefully at least a balcony.

When she was on the Royal Princess, her cabin was on the Lido deck. I'm not sure of the category. The deck attendants were instructed not to start arranging the deck chairs each day until 10:30am as to not disturb her. Rank does have its privileges!
