Extra Services in PH Verandah Suites?

For our upcoming cruise on the Noordam, we have been given the opportunity to buy an upgrade to a Penthouse Verandah Suite from the Deluxe Verandah Suite that we have booked. We have visited the Penthouses on the Noordam and found them to be too glitzy for our taste. The only reason that we might consider this upgrade would be if the Penthouses had butler services or other extraordinary services. Does anyone know if there are any such extra perks that come along with the Penthouses?

I am not sure how HAL does it, but we had friends on NCL who were in the penthouse. We had a blast. The butler was great, the bathroom oh my. There are 2 bathrooms and one was just awesome. The butler provided them with just about anything they asked for. I must say it was real nice, just not as big as I thought it would be. Oh, extra people to tip at the end too.

Wow! All I know is that if I had this chance I would go for it You only live once! Sure wish we'd get that offer! Whatever yo decide---have a great trip!

We are booked on a SC deluxe verandah suite. How does someone get offered to upgrade to a penthouse like that for any sort of a reasonable price?

There are no extra benefits like you're thinking of when you stay in the PS. You're simply booking a bigger cabin.

Now I'm not saying that you don't get a little extra attention in the casino or the jewelry shop when they learn that you're in the PS, but there's nothing official or especially overt.

You get the same extra services in the PH as you do in Deluxe Suites on Hal, but it is cool to be in a PH once. I would go for it. Hal does not have butlers like Celebrity, Crystal, etc., but then they don't have the Neptune lounge. How does someone get those kind of upgrades, never happens to us?

Thanks for the replies. The upgrade that we were offered is actually quite expensive, almost $5,000. The SB aft suite that we have booked has a much larger verandah than the Penthouse suite and we find the decor of the Penthouses to much too glitzy for our taste. We really do enjoy the butler service that we are used to on Regent and we might have paid extra to get it on our HAL cruise. Without that perk, we would rather save the money and have the larger outdoor space.

Now that you've told me the price, personally it is not that good of deal. Once we got the PH for about 1,500 dollars more then a deluxe suite and we went for it. Had a large goup on board and it worked out great but very seldom do you see a PH price that reasonable. Your right your suite has more balcony space then the PH.

We have stayed in the PS several times, and there are no extra perks such as the ones offered on the other cruise lines you mentioned. You are basically paying for the extra space. The only extra perk, and it doesn't happen all the time, is that sometimes you are escorted through security and onboard by the port agent and then met by the Hotel Manager once onboard and escorted directly to your suite. The extra space is wonderful, and the tub is delightful. Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks for all of your replies. We'll stay where we are. I'm sure that we will love our aft "Deluxe Verandah Suite". The room is certainly big enough for us and the enormous aft outdoor space is something that we enjoy very much each time that we have it on a cruise.

Now we just have to get everything packed by Wednesday!
