BillyMetz Posted January 15, 2007 #13 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Hi flagger, anxious to read your full review in the next day or two. I will be sailing FOS on Mar 4th. Looks like the week before lblove posting here :-). We have had our reservations for well over a year and I read as many of the cruise reviews that come out. How were things on board reference the past out break of noro virus? Is the staff still being real partiuclar about serving the food at the WindJammer? Does everything still smell of bleach? Other questions I have concern docking in Cozumel or tinder and debarkation Sunday morning. What time were you able to leave the ship. We have a 11:25 am flight from Miami and plan to use self debarkation in order to make the flight so I keep asking this same question.

flagger Posted January 15, 2007 Author #18 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Do you made Grand Cayman? There were rough seas lately. Grand Cayman was missed. Seas were pretty rocky that night, but the roughest night was after leaving Labadee. jblove - Formal is less formal than on other ships. I actually wore a sport coat and slacks with a tie and was just fine. Not into shopping so really cannot help you, but all of them offer good opportunities if you can haggle. We missed GC but heard that was best for Booze. Also we did not do any excursions through the trip. BillyMetz - We were off the ship and in a cab by 6:49. We were at the airport by 7:15. We had a 7:30pm flight home but paid to standby and take an 8:30 AM flight. We docked in Cozumel. We could serve ourselves in the Windjammer, no bleach smell but several places smelled of mildew for the first two days. Willysgrandma - I ate in the DR 4 out of the six nights and two lunches and one breakfast. Food was ok, nothing spectacular. I have to say I liked the food on Celebrity much better. I had one steak sandwich at lunch that to call the meat shoe leather would have been a compliment. I did not try to surf. The only excursion we did was independently booked through A-Z Jamaica planners.
BillyMetz Posted January 15, 2007 #19 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Thanks flagger for the quick response. Sounds like we should have no problem. By the way did you experience any problem boarding last Sunday with the port lock down? You mentioned that Friday leaving Labadee was the roughest. Do you know how rough the seas were that night and what did you actually experience as far as movement? We are taking a couple with us this time that has never cruised and I have been telling them that with the FOS being so big they would not feel to much movement. I have been on some where the sea was so rough you stumbled left and right as you walked down the halls. Hopefully it was not that bad for you. flagger Posted January 15, 2007 Author #20 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Yes we experienced a delay in boarding on Sunday due to a confluence of events which I will post about in my review. We did not get on the ship until after 2:30. To give you an idea of the movement, I had two trolls sitting on our TV. One of them fell off the night we left Cozumel. They closed access outside because of the high winds and deck chairs were seen going overboard. We missed Grand Cayman the next day due to high swells which made the GC Port Authority close down the port for not only us by the other 5 ships due in port. On Labadee night, the other troll fell off as well as the books from the shelf above the tv. We had an AFT facing cabin on Deck 7. I was on Deck 12 on Labadee night and went to check out the party in the Solarium and looked back towards the aft and you could really see the moon bouncing around against the funnel. We were told the swells were forecast for 9 meters as we left Labadee. We even felt it in the Casino midship on Deck 4. I love being on a ship though so the movement did not bother me. Some people were seen in splints though the next day or so I heard.

flagger Posted January 15, 2007 Author #23 Share Posted January 15, 2007 It was a blur as symptoms of Noro like virus forced me to lose the better part of 24 hours. The horrible part only lasted about 12, the weakness in the body lost the rest of the time. This was Cozumel day. Immodium is so my friend.
