Cotswalds Bus Tour

Recommended Posts

Hi. Any suggestions on a bus tour company that tours the Cotswolds and either departs from London or is based in the Cotswolds? I see the Evan Evans company all over the place. Anyone done that tour and can recommend them? I know that finding a good tour company can be tricky.

I know I know, I should rent a car on this journey to see all the little towns but with the steering wheel on the right side thing and the driving on the left side, it scares me and I'm a great driver. I'd rather leave the driving to someone else on this trip.

I got Bath, Stonehenge and Stratford taken care of by way of train and bus and foot and now I need to figure this section of England out. Oh I'll be there mid-March, if this makes any difference.

Thanks again.

Hollywood Howie

These two places are similar to and reliable as http://www.evanevans.co.uk/ :

I took and recommend London Walks Oxford and Cotswolds explorer day, which is only available Wednesdays from March to November. http://www.walks.com . I am guessing they are cheaper at £35 from Paddington Railway Station. Check out their other offerings for your London stay, for inspiration.

It's a popular misconception that it's impossible to tour the Cotswolds on your own by train and bus. It just takes a little careful planning (checking timetables in advance) & patience.

A few suggested routes/itineraries:

*Train from Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh, then a fairly short bus ride to Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water. From Bourton, it's an easy and enjoyable countryside walk to Lower Slaughter and Upper Slaugher.

*Train from Paddington to Evesham, then bus to Broadway.

*The bus from Broadway to Stroud will take you to two more attractive small towns, Winchcombe and Painswick.

Mind you, the weather in March is likely to be grey & wet & windy, but that's all part of the experience.
