Pooky11 Posted January 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2007 Hi We wanted to book a tour with About Chile which will give us the transfer from Santiago we need along with a tour of Valparaiso. We are booked to sail on the Rotterdam and the ship leaves port at 5pm on 16th Feb. What is the latest we should get to the pier for? How long will it take to get through the process if we get there with an hour to go? Please can someone let me know ASAP! :) Also what sights do you see on the About Chile tours? Any experiences would be appreciated. Thanks Pooky
BettyNL Posted January 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2007 POOKY...... We used AboutChile last month from Santiago to Valparaiso; they picked us up at 10:00 am and we were at the pier by 4:00 pm. You could ask them to come earlier and leave out some of the stops (coffee & winery) or skip the lunch in Vina del Mar to go directly to the ship. Bill S Posted January 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2007 In the latest "Know Before You Go" from HAL, it says that they want you to board no later than an hour before the ship's departure time and that they pull the "gangplank" 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. When we boarded the Amsterdam in Valparaiso after a day tour in Vina del Mar and Valparaiso, we arrived at the pier around 3:30 and were able to board immediately-no lines! Pooky11 Posted January 18, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted January 18, 2007 thanks for the replies this is very helpful. I think what we will do is ask them to drop us off at 3.30pm and that should give us plenty of time. Also does anyone know how far away the Valparaiso town is from the port? thanks Pooky
