snownyet Posted January 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2007 We're sailing on the Noordam in march, our first trip out of NYC. On past cruises out of Florida we've found the fresh fruit to be spectacular. Being a NY resident and knowing what is made available to consumers in the winter and spring, Im curious as to the quality of fruit and produce thats provided to the cruise lines in NY vs Florida. Its one of those things I really look forward to, Id rather be prepared instead of dissapointed once I get there..LOL
sail7seas Posted January 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2007 I eat loads of fresh produce..... fresh veggies and fresh fruit make up a large part of my diet and I was well pleased on Noordam. The salad bar daily had wonderful field greens, romaine at the caesar bar area, broccoli, cauliflower.......all the usual fresh salad veggies you'd hope for. I enjoyed a number of bowls of cut up fruit/melons and they were delicious. I'm from Boston and know what you mean about produce in winter. We can buy the best; go to the best supplier and can't get into the middle of the melon to taste it. Same thing happens to HAL. They can use the best suppliers and sometimes you get a tasteless melon. Happens to me; I'm sure it happens to them. Happens in Florida, as well. I don't think you'll lack for lots of fresh produce. GMoney Posted January 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2007 On the Xmas cruise I found the fresh fruit to be average at best. Pretty much what I expected sailing from NYC in winter.
