cck0000 Posted January 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2007 Hi all, We'll be on the Brilliance in March! We have an all day sailing excursion in Grand Cayman and the tour operator reccommends brining along a box lunch from the cruise ship. Does Royal Carribean do this? Thanks
BearySweet2Cruise Posted January 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2007 Nope.. RCCL does not allow any food to be taken off the ship, (this is actually a law pertaining to agriculture enforcement) if you are caught you can be fined BIG $$$, however you can take off things that are sealed like the little cereal boxes in the windjammer.. but NO sandwiches or fruit of any type can gooff the ship. We always pack a bag with assorted prepackaged items like cookies, granola bars and similar to have for a quick snack in ports. Happy cruising!:)
leerobbs Posted January 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2007 No. You cannot take food off the ship. I have never heard of box lunches from the cruise ships.
zqvol Posted January 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2007 Some cruise lines will prepare box lunches for taking ashore (with full knowledge and approval of the local authorities). The rules vary by port and in some places it cannot be done. Most of the mass market lines simply refuse to prepare them because passengers think if you can do it in one prt that you can do it in all of them, which is not true. Ask when you get on board. Thanks If your tour operator suggested you get a box lunch from your ship and this is not common practice...........I would reconsider this tour operator. He does not sound experienced enough if he is giving you that kind of info, you may get your self into trouble with him. I would go with heavy recomendations from the boards at cruise critic or with the cruise line tours.
