teacherman Posted February 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2007 We will be flying into IAH on Friday and taking Princess transfers to Hotel Galvez for one night pre-cruise. It is on Feb 16 during Mardi Gras. We hope to see some of the parades Friday evening. Can someone suggest a good restaurant near to the hotel for Frday evening dinner? clearlakecruisers Posted February 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2007 Are you looking for any specific type of food? Seafood? Mexican? Steak? Upscale/gourmet? Also check http://www.galveston.com/ under "What to do/cuisine".

Teech Posted February 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2007 Last December when I cruised out of Galveston, we went to Gaido's.......a very nice restaurant at 3828 Seawall Blvd. I'm not sure if it is near your hotel. We are also staying at Gaido's again.
ktravis Posted February 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2007 How is the hotel and restaurant? We are thinking about staying there in March.
clearlakecruisers Posted February 9, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2007 Gaido's has long been considered one of the best seafood restaurant's in Galveston. Casey's, their more casual place, next door is also good for seafood. Sorry, don't know much about their lodging but it is next door to both restaurants with a view of the Gulf and I have never heard any major complaints. bluefins Posted February 9, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 9, 2007 Has anyone eaten at the Spot in Galveston? Their menu on the website looks pretty good.
Snoozeman Posted February 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2007 From posts above: Gaidos=Excellent Casey's=Very Good The Spot=Very Good (wifi from here if you need to post to Cruise Critic) OP: None of these are walking distance of your hotel, an excellent hotel, BTW. Check the website posted, Galveston.com, for more choices. Enjoy your cruise and the parades.
hughdm Posted February 10, 2007 #9 Share Posted February 10, 2007 Our favorite seafood place in Galveston is a place called Clary's. It's just off the causeway on the Houston side, so you'd have to get a cab or whatever. They take reservations, whereas Gaido's won't. It's a family owned place with great food on a little bay. Here's a link if you're interested: http://www.galveston.com/clarysseafood/
papermans Posted February 11, 2007 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2007 We went to the Sky Bar at 2107 Post Office St. week before last, before our cruise. It was so much fun. Very elagant but casual. They have Japanese and Indian food. The sushi is great. If you like martinis you will love this place. We can't wait to go back. Which we will do very soon since we live nearby.
