Disney cruise horn

Thank you SO much for posting the link! My sister and I sailed on the Wonder in January, and the horn was one of the highlights of the trip! When they would announce that the horn was about to go, we ran up on deck in order to hear it more clearly! :D

And I should mention....we are two adults in our late '30s/early 40's who got so excited at the sound of the Disney horn. I just emailed the file to her and I know she will freak out when she hears it.

Now I just have to figure out how to set up my computer so it plays when I get an email. :p

Thanks again!

Let's see if I can help with setting it up for your email.

This is if you are running windows XP

1.make a note of where you have the disney horn file saved

2. click on control panel

3.click sounds and audio devices

4.click on sounds

5.scroll down to New Mail Notification

6.clcik on browse and select the directory where you have the file saved

Hope that helps

Bill, thanks for the clear instructions....I was able to follow them, except I think the problem is I don't have the horn file saved anywhere. I just have the link from this post, which I was able to 'copy and paste' into an email. But I can't figure out how to save the .wav file. I'm not too computer literate, so it's probably something obvious that I'm missing.

Hi Bill,

Ok, I saved the .wav file...and then followed your instructions and I thought I had everything set up perfectly. Then I sent myself a 'testing' email from my Yahoo mail to my Hotmail mail and expected to hear the horn. But, nothing...my speakers are on, the volume is up, but no horn.

Not sure what I've done wrong.....

When you check your hotmail acount do you check it through Outlook Express? If not that is the reason I believe. If you do and it doesn't work, I'm stumped.

One other thing I thought of. After you clciked browse and picked where the file was saved did you clcik apply or OK? You need to click apply.

Ah, maybe that's it...no I don't check my Hotmail through Outlook express. I go directly into the msn site to get into my hotmail. Guess that's the problem. I did select 'apply' eventually but only after the first time when I only did 'ok'. So, I've tried both...

I'll keep playing around with this and see if I can figure it out.

Thanks

The only thing missing are the Casino's.....we skip DCL because of it...

I know thats some peoples cup of tea. but the lack of casino's was a HUGE selling point for us.

I mean it is Disney after all, Family's and all.

I don't understand the gym's. I mean I don't go on vacation to work out all day. LOL

usually only when leaving Port Canaveral and upon arrival into a port. Special occassions I guess would account for more, but in the 5 cruises we have been on with DCL it was just leaving Port Canaveral and arriving in each port :)

Hey!!! We have the same name:eek: :)

Head Mouse...

We want to have some sort of an adult vacation on board. That is why we choose Celebrity.

We are Premium Annual Passholders for Disneyland - Anaheim, we stay at the Grand California..... so the kid thing gets taken care of at least 4 - 5 times a year. We just would try DCL if there were some after hour Adult activities...we prefer a little adult entertainment.

But again...to each their own..

It seems that you've been misinformed.

When Disney created DCL they realized that they could not fill the ships year-round with families with small kids. They would have to attract adults with older kids, grandparents and adults without kids to fill the ships.

In order to do so, they set-up a large area for the kids clubs to keep many of them busy, they also designated adults only areas in the entertainment district, around a pool, a restaurant and an entire beach on their island. How many other lines have done that? The result is that ionically, on a ship where you expect to have a lot of kids, there are places to go to be without kids.

In addition, while the shows in the WD theater are all very family-oriented, they can get rather adult themed in the Rockin Bar-D after dinner when kids are not allowed. It's not Eddie Murphy Raw, but a lot of the jokes would have to be explained to most kids.

Boy, are we off-topic here. Happy birthday to this thread.

BYW, bulls have horns, ships have whistles.

And to think all my life living on the Great Lakes shippng channel we call them "Fog Horns" and not "Fog Whistles".... who knew ...lol

I guess that there's an excepption to the rule. "Fog Whistle" just doesn't sound right. Who ever heard of Fogwhistle Leghorn? The last ship that I was on had a big box on the back of the bridge labeled "Fog Signal Control". Perhaps someone couldn't make up their mind.
