Sterling30D Posted February 7, 2007 #27 Share Posted February 7, 2007 On the playing cards thing... from what I understand, they discontinued doing this recently (now they send you to the casino, there is a sign at the cashier stand that says "Playing cards- $1.00)... They were free in October, but in January they weren't. I'm sure if the pursers desk still has some, perhaps they will give them to you, but from what I gather, they discontinued this and are now charging a buck... a lousy buck, pretty close to free, LOL We were on the Pride from Jan 8 to Jan 14 and got free cards. The wife was on the Paridise the very next weekend and got free cards so I don't think they have stoppped the practice of giving them out.
traveltart Posted February 7, 2007 #28 Share Posted February 7, 2007 So if you are sharing a table with someone you don't know, you have to sit there and wait for them before you can start your meal? What if they never show up? Is it bad form to begin your meal service when your own party is seated?
Icantdrv55 Posted February 7, 2007 #29 Share Posted February 7, 2007 Well! Okay then...guess we've been put in our places. Now, all of you CC members...STOP posting Lies!!!!!!:p  I, for one, cannot figure out why it is that each of you (and, i guess myself included), needs to fill these boards with these CCL Cheerleading-type false statements. :D What would the reasoning be behind lying? Why would someone lie about getting a deck of cards. I personally didn't get any cards, but then again I didn't ask for any. I did see a Carnival staff member stop a family with a baby in a diaper from going in a pool. I also saw Security ask a child to leave the adults only pool area. People can only tell you what their experiences were. In some ways your cruise experience may have differed from what mine was. In other ways, maybe it didn't. People are going to report their views and opinions on here. You believe what you want to believe. "Cheerleading" for one company or another may exist but you just have to cut through it to obtain real info. However, it will still come down to what you experienced. CatgirlNC Posted February 7, 2007 #30 Share Posted February 7, 2007 I only had the pizza once, and that was at 3 AM. What pizza doesn't taste great at 3 AM? And apparently some people are unfamiliar with the use of emoticon smilies to denote humor and/or sarcasm. ;)

But, to respond to your post seriously, i'd have to say this to the OP: OP -- you came "out of the gates" so to speak, almost fighting. it had to do w/ the way you structured your post. at least the way i read it. it wld have been much more helpful and productive for the boards for you to state that the items in the beginning of your post were not followed on your cruise (or no longer applied, in the case of the free cards). instead, you wrote, intentional or not, that the previous posts regarding these issues must be untrue, almost intimating that the posters had lied. of course they didn't. Regarding your second paragraph -- none of your statements can be equated to fact or fiction issues. these items are a matter of personal choice. you cld have simply stated that you didn't care for them. instead your post intimated that all who have written that they have enjoyed them are wrong. the last part of your post, in particular, makes it sound like you hated your cruise. if this is the case, you shldn't come back and re-post when you hate the Legend, b/c you will already know going into that cruise that you will not like it. NeptunesGoddess Posted February 7, 2007 #32 Share Posted February 7, 2007 The caesar salad tastes fishy because it is a "true" ceasar salad and has anchovies finely minced in the dressing. Alot of restaurants no longer put anchovies in caesar salad and so some people will wonder why it tastes fishy when they are getting a real caesar salad. Oh and to the OP...thanks so much for straightening us all out and getting the facts separated from the lies er..fiction. I hope you feel better, Whew..I know I do! :D
tkportersat Posted February 7, 2007 #33 Share Posted February 7, 2007 Oh, I got a laugh out of reading some of these@!! :) The food is a matter of opinion...I happen to love most of the Carnival desserts and that has been ship wide but the pizza that I loved on the Ecstasy was not the same on the Conquest. On one ship my steak is dry on another it was moist and tasty. That will happen with any restaurant and is due to different head chefs and possibly the amount of passengers on each ship. I can't comment on the salad because I try not to eat it, I mean seriously it wastes space for the good stuff! Bring on the dessert :) I have gotten free cards on one ship and then gone on another and had them tell me they don't have them anymore or there is a fee to get them now. As for being late for dinner that is just plain rude to everyone. If it is more then 15 minutes past the dining time then you SHOULD be turned away. If I can manage to get myself and two children organized and make it on time I expect the same from other passengers, if it can't be done than go to the many other choices aboard to enjoy your dinner. rucruizin Posted February 7, 2007 #36 Share Posted February 7, 2007 Neptune, I know...anchovies...yuck. That's why I said "I" didn't like it. I don't like fish, I try it, and try it, I just can't wrap my tastebuds around the idea of liking that fish taste. So I don't order the caesar salad. I wouldn't tell someone else that it was gross, more likely I would say, "I'm not a big fish fan but if you like fish, then try it." I'd tell my husband it's gross, since I know he doesn't like anchovies either.;) I certainley would never tell someone who really liked something, "get over it."

The wealth of imformation on this board is great and I'm looking forwerd to reading posting about the Legend for our July cruise. Thank-you and always cruise happy. fig414 Posted February 7, 2007 #40 Share Posted February 7, 2007 I happen to think the pizza is very good on Carnival. Then again, I'm sure the pizza is much better in Maine compared to the pizza I'm used to eating in NY.

Some people don't know that anchovies are in caesar salad and I thought you might be one of those people. I don't like fish, but, for some reason, I like Carnival's caesar salad. My hubby looks at me, perplexed, every time I eat one. I think the first 6 or 7 times I had one, he would say, "You know there are anchovies in that?" haha. Wennfred Posted February 8, 2007 #48 Share Posted February 8, 2007 Pizza lacked flavor and had a cardboard tasteing crust. Just another Troll, What do you know about Pizza? Dude you're from Maine :D The pizza onboard these ships is actually good, never had one that tasted like Pizza Hut Cardboard. These are freshly made. And as for the Ceasers Salad, everyone raves about it. Best in the Seven Seas. Thanks for your feedback, but no thanks. You sound rather bitter. Perhaps you expected too much of your cruise or perhaps you didnt enjoy your vacation. But I find it hard to believe that your opinion of the food tops what most have stated of their opinions. As they say, to each their own and perhaps you may be a picky eater whereas others are not. I dont allow the posts of these boards make or break my vacation because I go to experience and see things for myself. I may agree with some or disagree with some, but rest assure I will post both the positives and negatives of my experiences...(notice I said based on "MY" experiences) and I wont come back just shooting off on negatives without one positive. Sorry but I'll pass on your remarks. And who cares if the deck of cards are free or if they are a buck. That is still not a lot of money. As far as the cake, I have heard nothing but great things about it and I plan on having some on my upcoming cruise as well. Everything is not for everyone.
