Four day Century Atmosphere...Worried.

lookingforward

Recommended Posts

We were on Century in November and had a totally relaxing time. We are both in our sixties and were not bothered by children, young adults or anyone else. We also live in Florida, but have been opting for the 14 day cruises. We are already thinking of another quick get away on Century because it was so relaxing.

You all are so kind to reply, even if the news is not what I want to hear! We are "obligated" to take this cruise (final payment made)so I am hoping for the best. I am a fairly relaxed person and was once a wild college student. I was on the Carnival ship over new years and can remember a young lady standing next to a young man in the internet lounge. He was checking his email and I was doing some classwork. The young women was speaking in a REALLY loud voice about how drunk she got and how she wound up in so and so's room, etc. Too much information. The guy she was with was obviously annoyed with her but she did not get the message. I wanted to shake her and say "wise up!" but they all have to live and learn. :) Unfortunately, she was living and learning on my internet dime since I could not concentrate or drown out her loud and whiny voice.

I am going to call Celebrity tomorrow and query their policies about the under 25 crowd. I also agree that some people under 25 are more responsible than some 50 year olds I know, so it is really a crap shoot. As some of you know I can take a lot but if any of them start splitting tens at blackjack then I am going to have to be restrained......

I'm sure you already know that splitting tens is not limited to any age group. That said, I was surprised at the amount of money the college students had to spend (lose) at the tables. Many thought nothing of 2 or 3 hundred a hand, but after the first two nights, they were seldom seen in the casino. The last night they were lined up at the cashiers' cage, all with credit cards in hand.:D

I'm sure you will have a great cruise without having to retreat to your balcony, although there's nothing wrong with that.

Ain't that the truth! I will let you all know what Celebrity has to say to me tomorrow (if anything).

How to clear the blackjack table so your friends can sit down: Split tens, don't take a hit on a 12 when the dealer is showing a 10 and hit on a 16 when the dealer is showing a 6. :)

I called Celebrity. First off, they CHANGED the age limits to 21. So now there needs to be ONE person per cabin that is 21...down from 25. NOT good news for us. Also, gambling age is 18, drinking 21. They stated the cruise is not sold out BUT that there will probably be at least 100 or more spring breakers. I explained my concerns about kegs at the pool, booze packages, etc. The women at the Captains club stated that this would not happen but that there will be some college students on board.

Oh well. :) I remain hopeful but cautious. The women I spoke to did try to explain that MOST college students look for more "lively" ships like Carnival and RCCL and that they will be off the ship while in port. We'll see. Thanks for "listening".

What I don’t understand is why does anyone think it is the passengers’ responsibility to report the flagrant policy violations? All the crew were on the same ship, in the same venues and I didn’t see a single one using a white cane!

I don't think it's the passengers' responsibility. The staff should be alert to infractions of rules and social proprieties. I was just wondering what you thought they could do about it to improve your cruise after it was all over...
