Going on the Westerdam in 7 Days!!!:)!!! Just pulled out the suitcases to start packing as the wind howls and the temp is about 8 degrees here in the North East. Questions....

Does the Westerdam have refridgerators/ Freezer in the room?

Are the safes key pad or magnetic strips?

Do you need a bonjie cord to hold open the balcony door?

Is the wine tasting really $35.00?

Is there a kitchen tour?

Any secrets about the ship that would improve the trip?

I can't wait!!!!!!!

Do NOT hold the balcony door open! It messes up the air conditioning for your neighbors.

Not sure. Sounds right.
Is there a kitchen tour?
yes

Wine tasting -

When we were onboard it was $29, but it could have gone up.

The wine tasting is really quite an event. You get 6 different wines, and a good portion. There are all sorts of hors d'oevres at the table too. Depending on your wine steward, you have quite a floor show. We've done it twice. Once was a great show, the other was boring. But there is still the wine!

There is also another wine tasting, much more limited, but it is free.

Enjoy your cruise!! Just a few more days!

The wine tasting was $35 when we were on Westerdam two weeks ago on the same itinerary as you.

The balcony door is a door that opens, as opposed to a sliding door, if that makes sense. We didn't prop ours open so I don't know how to do that.

They were fridges and you can empty the contents into your desk chair, which is actually just a hollow stool, if you want to use the fridge for your own things. There is no freezer. I think they would store medicines for you.

The safe was a keypad affair.

The kitchen tour documents and all the other paper we received onboard have been scanned and can be found in my signature here.

Here is the page that confirms the $35 price on the wine tasting. Calling it a premium tasting is a stretch. One of the Chardonneys is an Eroica from Chataeu St. Michelle (Washington State) that you can buy in most grovery stores with a decent wine section.
