Mobile Alabama Pre-cruise hotel?

Even though we are only 3 1/2 hours away from Mobile, we still feel better staying the night before our cruise. Guess that goes back to the days of Port Canaveral and Port Everglades. Any pre cruise hotel favorites? Seems the Admiral Semmes Park and Cruise package is getting pretty pricey. Any other hotels that offer the park and cruise?

You are wise. We always drive in a day ahead. We are 5 -6 hours from the New Orleans port.

There are several hotels up 1-65. You might find some "locals' to give you better insight if you also post this on the Gulf Embarkation section of these boards.

Happy Cruising!!

Keep in mind that when you factor in what it would cost you to park in the parking garage, the Radisson becomes somewhat more affordable. This hotel consistently gets good reviews, is in a good location as far as being downtown, surrounded by lots of things to see and do, a couple great restaurants and really close to the terminal. We are four hours from Mobile and have gone down the day before on both our cruises on the Holiday and we were not able to find any other hotels that offered a park and cruise package. Once you get out of downtown, there are LOTS of reasonably priced hotels in close proximity to restaurants, shopping, local attractions such as the USS Alabama, etc. and the terminal is so very easy to get to, I would suggest that that be your better choice. Over Xmas, we stayed in the La Quinta for $69/night. Right off of I-65 and right next to a Denny's plus several other restaurants, easy access. You will find several nice hotels all priced about the same, all easy to get to no matter what direction you come into Mobile from. There again, we had to pay the parking fee at the terminal and ended up spending about $129, which is close to the Radisson's rate. The reason for staying in the La Quinta is that we had a group and needed more than one room. Also keep in mind that if you park in the cruise terminal parking garage, you are right there so that when you disembark, you can hop right into your vehicle and head home instead of having to wait on someone to come get you to transport you to your vehicle. Just some food for thought. Lots of people say the Radisson is a great deal and gets you there and back without a lot of waiting.
