I saw this posted by another member on the RCCL message board. Is this true? Has anyone ever contacted the cruise line and told them what baby food and formula they needed and had it waiting for them on the ship?? This seems too good to be true.

For all you mom's paying full 3rd pass fare.

If you let the cruise line know 4 weeks ahead of time they will have the type of baby food you request and whatever formula the baby drinks.
Since food comes with the price of the cruise."

I have heard this before also but never actually did it. Check with HAL, Carnival and RCCL.

HAL does provide these items for a charge. You have to make arrangements several weeks in advance. There is info in their brochure or there is some limited info on their web site....http://www.hollandamerica.com/onboard/dining.do...
scroll down to the last paragraph.

Princess provided baby food for my daughter on our cruise last November. We brought our own formula.

It was provided in a very interesting way. I had envisioned having 30 jars of food delivered to our cabin on the first day, but it wasn't like that at all. In the beginning, our waiter intended on giving us food each time we came to the main dining room for a meal. However, when we explained to him that we only ate dinner in the dining room and ate breakfast and lunch at the buffet, he agreed to give us enough for one whole day at a time. We then had a conversation each day at dinner about what we had left from the day before and what we needed (i.e. two jars of fruit, one jar of veggies and a meat).

Also, be prepared for some out of the ordinary selections. Some of the jars were Gerber or Heinz, but others were from Italy or other foreign countries. Not being multilingual, the only way I knew she was eating beef or veal versus some other pinkish meat was based on the picture of the cow on the jar! She was none the worse for wear, however, and it all worked out fine. I guess Italian babies have to eat, too!

Days until my next cruise:

I would realy get this hammered down prior to travel-I recently saw an episode of Airline-UK and a family traveling out from one country to another had to jump through hoops (with the assistance of a very nice airport official) to get permission to bring the infant formula thier child needed for the duration of their trip.

Just as a safety net on formula-I would research on line if the brand formula you need can be taken to the country you will be traveling in. Some destinations may allow the powdered variety while not the canned liquid. You may also want to check into the Website for the brand you use and see if they have the small individual serving size cans (the type you get from the hospital when the baby is born) for sale-this would be preferable to me over wondering if the larger cans the cruise line was utilizing was being appropriatly stored. If you are staying at a hotel prior to departure you could contact the concierge and arrange to have the item directly shipped and held for your arrival (we have done this for other items and the hotels were very cooperative).

We are traveling with our infant on Celebrity in October. If you provide them with a list of your baby's needs they will provide you with baby food and formula at no extra cost. The request must be faxed 21 days prior to sailing. I faxed over a form and they called me back a couple of days later asking for more specific information (quantity, size, brand, etc). They assured me that they would have no problem meeting my request and that the fodd would be delivered. I was very impressed, especially when they called back to confirm. People sailing Celebrity should take advantage of this service.
