Zandile Posted February 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2007 Will be sailing on the Sovereign 4 night on April 2 and I've been reading with interest that folks with cingular service can maintain a cingular cell signal for the entire cruise. I have a blackberry with cingular (and I know some folks will differ with me on this but I'm HAPPIER when I'm connected.....if I could implant the thing in my head I would lol!). Anyone have any experience staying connected with their blackberry service (getting email primarily, but surfing would be cool too) while cruising on an RCI ship in the bahamas? My new favorite thing is to curl up in bed with my blackberry and cruise the boards here :-). THANKS for any input!
Lewdog Posted February 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2007 How happy wil you be connected with those international rates?
kruzerci Posted February 19, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2007 Yes you will be able to. If you don't care about running up the bill go for it :p . We used my wifes a lot of Navigator, but her company pays her Nextel bill and never said anything about it. I think the texting is free if you have a text messaging plan because I sent many of them on days at sea and I was never charged. We will see you onboard in 6 weeks from today :D . puggdogg1 Posted February 25, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2007 My cruising buddy was attached to her 'crackberry' on on cruise on the Mariner last year. She had gone into the Cingular store and upgraded to an international plan for a month. Then downgraded when we got back. She got service the whole time, even in port. If I remember right she did not pay extra for checking email or internet (this was the first cruise that I did not bring my laptop b/c I could check my email on her blackberry) and she did not care how long I stayed on (I think she would have had she had to pay). The only thing she payed extra for were calls, 2.49 a minute. She did keep her crackberry on vibrate the whole week so that it didn't disrupt the people sitting around her out on deck and didn't talk on the phone except we were in the room. She did email from the deck though to take care of some work issues (she had some new staff).
