heather6699 Posted February 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2007 I have read and seen pictures of a tram on Castaway Cay? Do you catch this right off the ship? Where does it take you? Do you have to take it or is the family beach within walking distance? Thanks!
gatour Posted February 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2007 They offer a tram from the ship to the "main" area (ie family beach) and then there is another tram from the main area to the adult beach. The walk from the ship to the family area is short so taking the tram is not really needed. The walk from the main area to the adult beach is longer, so we normally take the tram. It is walkable though, but keep in mind you are walking along an old runway so it can be quite sweltering an nothing to break up your view as you look down the runway. BOAT N BOB Posted February 19, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2007 I suggest when you first get there to walk from the ship to the beach, then on the way back you can ride the tram, after an exhausting day at the beach its nice to have someone take you back to the ship. MrPete Posted February 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2007 We've done both. If we see it's coming, we take it.

Imalismom Posted March 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2007 Even with taking the Tram, it is a good walk before you get to the first tram area. But, I would also join the rest of the gang here and say if you can walk, do the walk - it is so beautiful. Walking out to the stingray swim is a LONG walk though - so make sure you leave plenty of time to get there if you are going that far. Nobbi Posted March 11, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2007 Definitely walk to the family beach/main area unless someone in your party has trouble walking. The walk to the adult beach gets a little boring along the long "runway". We were walking when a small golf cart with cast members and stopped to ask if we wanted a ride. We gladly accepted and again felt like celebrities given the wonderful treatment we had during the entire cruise. :)
bigwally Posted March 17, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2007 I'm with the walkers. It's not far and is a lovely walk at a strolling or slower pace.
JRsMom Posted March 18, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 18, 2007 We walked because we didn't see the tram! Sometimes waiting for the tram is long and you can walk it faster!! Its all in the timing! We ended up walking back to the ship also!!
cofgren Posted March 18, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2007 We've been there 8 times and have yet to take the tram.It is just so much as you are getting off the ship and walking right to the beach,we just never got around to it.And upon our return to the ship,we of course wanted to slow it down a little.
