Look at the itinerary. If first seating begins before the ship leaves port some nights, and you know you are going to spend as much time on land as possible for shore excursions, shopping, etc. book second seating.

If I have first seating my DH and I on the very first nite we tell our tablemates and wait staff if we are not there at 6:00 p.m.(we are always on time) we tell them to just go ahead and start without us as we have made other plans. It is not fair to your tablemates or the wait staff to have to wait on someone. I have been there and done that a few times in that we had to wait until the tablemates came in late.

Yes, the Celebrity site says that you can, and that is indeed the practice on all the 19 Celebrity cruises we have been on....as long as they are not short shorts or cut offs and no halter tops or midriffs exposed, though.

As you read this thread, anything that anyone says specific to what we call "M-Class" or "Millennium Class" ships (others are the Millennium, Infinity and Summit) applies to the Constellation as it's part of that group. Other items may apply to all of their ships.

Hi neighbor :D

Well, believe it or not, we haven't sailed on Constellation OR the Scandanavia/Russia itinerary! That's the only M class ship we haven't been on. I can give you some general suggestions that would apply to any of the M class ships.

Try the Aqua Spa Cafe for breakfast or lunch

Go to the Specialty restaurant at least once to have the experience

Make friends with your cabin steward--he can be a wealth of information

Don't try to do everything! Save some of your energy for enjoying the new friends you will make on the ship, especially if you are part of a roll call and Connections party.

Make your spa appointments as soon as you get on the ship if you want a particular time or day--they book up fast, especially for the formal nights.

When you have your pictures taken save them all together till the end of the cruise and pick out the best ones to buy. Discard the ones you don't like right away.

If you have any particular questions ask away! :)

I cant believe I actually read through all 33 pages this afternoon. I appreciate your advise. I have been leading up off ship excursions and have enrolled in the CC party as well. Do you recommend a specific TA? I used one, and to my surprise..she mentioned that Celebrity isnt very good on offering ship credit. I am booked into the concierge cabin..at a single rate..thus of course paying dearly. Does this sound uncommon?

My first cruise was on the SS Brittanis. On my desk is the report of her sad end. Just yesterday I was looking at our 89 Carribean cruise from Jamacia to Aruba, Carteghena, San Blas, Grand Caymen. The Glory of the old ship, the quaint rear deck, the tables set up on the outside starboard and port decks.The room layout of 6 rooms off a hallway very few rooms even with a porthole. The benchmark to compare all my past and future cruises.

This story was related to me by the Captain of the Century during a special Greek Luncheon he hosted for some of the passengers in November.

Persian Garden is a spa located in the spa area at the front of the ship. You can take a peppermint shower, do a steam, sit in the sauna and all kinds of other good things in surroundings that are lush with beautiful mosiac tiles and soft music surrounding you. Well worth the $ for a visit.

Whew! I just read all 33 pages of this thread in one sitting! Some great information in here. My husband and I leave on Saturday for our honeymoon to the Southern Caribbean on Constellation. I was wondering about the persian garden... I read that it is co-ed...do you wear a bathing suit? Does it get very crowded? Is the Rasul Treatment included? How much does it cost, both for the week or a one-time visit? What are the free saunas in the locker room like? Is there steam as well?

We will be on the same cruise with you next week. My DH and I love the Persian Gardens, but not everyone does. Do you like to just hang out and enjoy the steam/sauna combo?

 

It consists of a sauna, two steamrooms (one with herbal scents) and two showers (one lavender and one peppermint). There is a lovely heated stone bench in the center that I just love to sit on and chill out/meditate.

 

The saunas that are in the locker rooms are great. They are free and they look out onto the sea (or harbor).

 

The Rasul treatment is an extra charge that includes use of the Persian Gardens after your treatment. It is a fun couple thing. We have done it a few times.

 

We haven't cruised in the past year, but on our last cruise the charges were $15 per day or three days for $45 or a week for $99. The Rasul was very reasonable, I believe it was $75 for the two of us.

That's exciting that we're going to be on the same cruise! I can't wait...we leave out of Dallas on Saturday morning and it has been so hard to make myself do any work this week! I'm not sure if we'll make it to the pool bar in time on Saturday b/c we don't arrive in San Juan until 5:00PM but we'll really try :( Otherwise we'll definitely be at the cruise critic party and I think that we'll be with a few other CC members on a few of our tours (Cosol in St. Lucia and Beno in Dominica??) We'll see...

And...on Galaxy the CC rooms on Sky Deck have great balconys. 1200 and 1201 are the best. 1240 and 1241 have a cutout balcony that although quite large makes seeing forward or backward pretty much impossible. They are also next to the sports deck so you can hear the basketballs bounce. :)

I just registered for forum after searching for infromation about shore excursions. The Galaxy Feb 25 will be my first Celebrity cruise and I have found their online brochure to be lacking. Anyone been on this cruise before? Any suggestions about Costa Rica? Panama? Jamica?

First go to the Roll Call board, find your cruise and see what others are doing in the way of excursions. I'm sure there will have been discussion there.

 

Second go to the Ports of Call board and look up the various ports.

 

If you are going to Puerto Limon I took a very good tour there through Oscar Brown. Highly recommend him. You can find his info on the boards.

Have you met new friends on cruises? I have been on 4 Princess & one Royal Carribean & have not met ONE new person. What am I doing wrong?

Gosh, yes! I've met great people that I've planned other trips with!

 

Go on the Roll Call and meet those people. Then sign up for the Celebrity Connections Party and GO to it! You'll meet people you've been corresponding with and put faces to names. If possible, go on some excursions with them and arrange to meet some for drinks before dinner. Put yourself out there a little. Cruisers are usually friendly people looking to make new friends with the 'cruising gene'. I still see people who were at my dinner table years ago.

 

Just put forth a little effort and go for it. Stay on these boards between cruises and you'll build online buddies here that you might cruise with in the future.

To meet people try going to breakfast and/or lunch in the dining room - we've always met some great people that way and in case you have a dinner table that isn't all that wonderful, this gives you another way to find some compatible people! Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation if you're in the buffet area - we've met some great people that way too - it sure does make a difference in the cruise!

I was wondering about the "one category upgrade". We booked a CC cabin on the Constellation for 5/6/06. We have our assigned cabin number so I'm assuming there is no upgrade. What is it, an upgrade within the category you purchased?

Welcome to the useless (for some of us) perk. RCCL's plan is far better in this regard. Booking a CC, FV or suite cabin with Celebrity makes it all moot. Normally, BTW, you book the cabin class you want e.g., a Cat2A, and pay for the lower category, e.g., Cat2B. It USED to be that you could book a Cat1C and pay for a Cat2A (it was still considered a veranda to veranda change then), but since Celebrity took all of their Cat1A, B and C cabins and made them CC, it's nothing doing.
