First, I must confess that I ripped off this thread title from another forum ( substituted Celebrity for another line). So, tell us all you insider Celebrity cruise secrets. Information that is not normally given out by Celebrity.

 

I'll start: You can get anything you want for breakfast from room service. If it's not on the breakfast door card, then just write in what you want.

Okay, I've been on two M Class Ships - Millennium and Infinity and never even seen Persian Gardens? Where are they located? Maybe that's the best kept secret of all.

Congrats on retiring at 34 -- I'm in my 50's and still not retired. By the way, I would never sneak into another cabin, or think of stealing "anything" -- that's not the way I was brought up. My vacations are budgeted as well which is why I cruise only once a year and make the best of every situation.

 

My question is what is the Persian Gardens? I've been on Summit two times (going again in March). Since another poster hasn't heard of it either -- maybe it doesn't exist!!!!!!!!!! AND, even if it does exist the poster didn't say she actually SNUCK in :D

The Persian Gargens are a private Sauna area up front by the Aqua-spa and fitness center on the Resort deck.

 

You can see them as part of the virtual tour of the Millenium that X's site offers.

Persian Garden is a spa located in the spa area at the front of the ship. You can take a peppermint shower, do a steam, sit in the sauna and all kinds of other good things in surroundings that are lush with beautiful mosiac tiles and soft music surrounding you. Well worth the $ for a visit.

Thanks so much for the 411 on the Gardens. I guess I just spend too much time in the Martini Bar when I'm on those ships. Actually, I've never been to the spa or the health club when I've been on the ships. Maybe I should start.

You can usually purchase a pass to the Persian Gardens on the first day of your cruise for about $100 which is valid for unlimited visits for the entire duration of the cruise (obviously, the longer the cruise the better the bargain). The Persian Gardens are a beautiful facility but not a big money-maker. As a result, the spa staff, busy with more important tasks, lacks the time and incentive to monitor the door 24/7. Also, they are much too polite to confront a passenger who might be "sneaking in."

Celebrity doesn't want you to know that the drinking water in the cabins is perfectly safe--and quite good. Why else would they plop a big bottle of spring water in every cabin--$4.00--at the start of the cruise?;)

Another secret: On M-class ships, the Acqua Spa Cafe offers grilled to order high quality salmon filets every day at lunch. It's so good I could eat it every day. Every now and then they put up a little sign at the cafe, but otherwise you have to be "in the know.";)

 

Try it. . .you'll be glad you did!:) Just don't let everyone know, or they won't be able to keep up with the demand.

Used to be, but not sure if this still applies: You can get over-the-counter seasickness meds at customer service or the purser's desk. Free, dispensed a couple of tablets at a time. No need to buy them in the gift shop.

If you're a big reader, here's a hint. At the library there is a "leave one take one" shelf. Drop off any books you've finished during your trip and pick up something new.

Here's some things I've found!

 

For those people in Suites that are getting tired of "Guess the room appetizers"...you can ask your Butler for a different pre dinner snack like sliced melon or shrimp cocktail. On our Galaxy Cruise, after the first 5 days of the butler picking up the plate, totally untouched, we were told we had these options. From that point on we had a HUGE shrimp cocktail brought to our cabin while we were getting ready for dinner, and when we returned he'd have a plate a slice melon waiting for us. (I think the reason for the second plate was for suck up purposes....overall him and the room steward screwed up the first 5 days of the trip, and the head housekeeper told him to let us know our other options!) If these can be offered on one cruise to make up for bad service, then I'm going to ask for them from the beginning of the next cruise because now I do know that it's available!!

 

You can also ask for your fruit options in the suite. There's the regular fruit bowl, and a tropical fruit bowl. We didn't find out about this either until after the 5th day....our regular fruit bowl had sat uneated for 4 days with mold on it! The head housekeeper gave us a list of fruit available, and from that point on, our fruit bowl was made fresh daily with our choices.

 

If your bed is too hard, they do have wonderful matress pads that the room steward can put on the matress to make it softer, or to fill up a whole in the mattress that's formed. My husband likes a firm matress, and I like a soft one, so the room steward came in and put 3 matress pads on the bed...I slept like a baby. I was told ANYONE could ask for this!

 

Also Chicken Breast is offered everynight at dinner along with Salmon, Shrimp Cocktail, Cesear Salad, Baked Potato, and just about anything you can find on the room service menu (Our tablemates LOVED the Clam Chowder, and had that for their soup one night!) If you only like a regular salad with iceberg lettuce and tomatoes...that's do-able too! Also had a good friend that wanted mashed potatoes everynight with his dinner, and it was there each night...enough for the whole table. You ask, it'll be there!

 

The room service chocolate chip cookies are HUGE!! We'd order 2 of those (for 3 of us) for eating with our afternoon tea. That's another thing....hot tea and coffee aren't the only things you can have brought to you in a suite. Your butler can also bring in iced tea. It was wonderful with those cookies!

 

We did get the money for our tips by going to the casino on the last day, and taking out a credit on our room account (thus a cash advance off our credit card WITHOUT it showing up on the card, just an additional cruise charge.) We didn't have to bring the extra cash, and we just paid off the card when we got home, and had the additional points on our card for more books (mine is a Waldenbooks card...loads of free books to take on cruises with me!)

 

If I can think of any other things, I'll post them here!

The staff member was polite but quite firm with them, not believing their response that they came in the back door and didn't know they had to pay. I think there may be a small sign on the back door that indicates the area is restricted.

It's seems an ealier post was pulled because folks were getting off topic. How about we try to keep this post for great tips about different ships.

 

Great Secrets I Found On The Summit:

 

Shrimp Cocktail and Ceasar Salad available every night (and other items also; just ask you waiter).

 

Incredible fluffy waffles at the very rear of the ship -- don't miss them -- warm maple syurp or stawberries or whipped cream -- yummy! There are also wonderful sandwiches at that station at lunch time.

 

The wonderful spa cuisine available all day.

 

Wonderful music in Michael's Lounge before dinner -- very few folks there.

 

Late afternoon at the therapy pool -- so relaxing!

Ordering a cheese and fruit plate or two to be delivered while we were having a cocktail and getting ready for dinner. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony and relax before dinner with our cheese and fruit.

 

Those are some things that I discovered that made my cruise enjoyable. What did you discover?

Well, this is not much of a secret on these boards, but the aft cabins on the "M" class ships. With their huge verandahs.

I agree this is a really good thjing to do, since I always take a paper back with me, I am first in line when the library opens,- if everyone took just one paper back to donate to the library think what a selection we wouold have.!

You are correct on the "T" pool part. I'm not sure on the other.

I have a question...I love the spa and spend lots of time there. Is there a charge for the Persian Gardens if you are in a suite?? I was wondering if its the same policy as the T-Pool.

But seriously, here's another secret: You can order fresh berries - rasberries, blueberries, strawberries -- with whipped cream every night for desert. Here in NY a bowl of berries can cost $5 easy, so it's a real luxury. And the whipped cream is fresh. Perfect for those on a low-carb diet!
