Arriving in London : A warning

Many threads request information about transport on arrival in London.

Please be aware that Victoria Station (Gatwick Express) and Paddington Station (Heathrow Express) are notorious for touts trying to guide arriving tourists to private car hires. These vehicles are usually parked around the corner away from prying eyes. They are unlicensed, uninsured and will rip you off big time. Never take up an unsolicited offer of a private hire at the stations. If you intend to take a taxi be sure to go to the black cab ranks.

Heathrow Express is a rip-off itself. 25 pounds ($50) roundtrip per person!!!:eek: ;)

Mine just came back from 6 months in London and did wonderful, we even visited. I found the trains to be a lot safer and easier to use than anywhere in this country.
