Buenos Aires Hilton

Just returned from BA, did not stay at the Hilton but visited the lobby as I had read something special about the bar. The interior is quite spacious

and very modern decor. You can view each floor from the lobby as the hallways are all open to the lobby. Restaurant and bar are open to the lobby. Located in the Puerto Madero area, many good restaurants, had a nice meal with wine and tip under $60 US at a fashionable place. Cabs are cheap, if you do not get tied up in traffic. We stayed at the Intercontinental, cost 5 peso to Puerto madero in light traffic, 6 peso in medium traffic. Roughly 3 peso = 1 $US.

Hope this helps. You will probablly need a cab to most places from Hilton, unless you love to walk. We did walk a lot. Florida street is about 15 min.

A friend stayed in this hotel and liked it. As stated above, the Puerto Madero area is renovated with many restaurants. It is also nice to walk along the docks on a sunny afternoon. If you can get in on points, go for it!

Hi -

Yes, we stayed at the Buenos Aires Hilton from Feb. 22 - 25, 2007 prior to our South America cruise (Celebrity Infinity). We found the hotel to be very clean, quite modern, and the rooms were spacious. The breakfast buffet (included in our room rate) was lovely and the food was very well prepared with a wide selection. However, don't pay for this buffet ... it is expensive if it is not included with the room you book.

The Internet access was free for 15 minutes per day in the business center... just enough time to check my email each day. The pool was quite nice, too. And, everything in the port area was an easy walk.

The Florida street shopping area is a 15-minute walk, mostly uphill.

However, you do not get the feel of B.A. by staying at this hotel. You could be at a Hilton in St. Louis or Cleveland. Also, the restaurants in the port area (where this Hilton is located) are very modern and upscale, catering to the upper class of B.A. Hence, the nearby restaurants don't really offer bargains to the tourist looking for a great buy on steaks!

All-in-all -- no complaints about the Hilton. You always know what you're going to get with a Hilton and it is almost always good. However, if I return to B.A., I'll probably go with a hotel in the middle of the town, not out in the new port area.

Hope this is useful to you in planning your trip!

Liz

we stayed at the Hilton a few years ago on a cruise from BA. The rooms were upscale and large with modern amenities & furnishments. We felt safe and secure the entire time. Going back again in January - will probably burn Hilton Honors points myself rather than eat the cost of a hotel room.

Has anyone stayed at the Hilton in B.A.? We have loads of Hilton points and want to use them but would like to hear from some folks who have stayed at the Hilton - the good, bad and ugly.

Thanks.

Stayed there pre-cruise in early March (Golden Princess). We were on the club floor, great room, wonderful breakfast and evening cocktails - try the Malbec - really good red wine. Free internet to check emails, nice area, safe, and with lots of restaurants. We used defrantur for our airport pick up, tours, tango show and drop off at the ship, and they were great too.
