last minute questions!!

leaving in a week on the Dawn to W.Caribbean, frantically trying to get it all together! a few last minute questions:

1) what type of power (120 or 240) are the outlets in the rooms and is it really necessary to bring a power strip for more outlets?

2) is it worth getting any travellers checks or should we just bring cash and credit cards?

3) is it worth bringing our own beach towels or should we just use what they have on board?

thanks so much, i'm a bit nervous but getting really excited too.

#1. 120, only if you have a multitude of things to plug in all at the same time.

#2. We take some of each, we open our onboard account with a credit card and pay it off with travelers checks towards the end of the week. We don't care for the big bill in the mail the folowing month and it does help to keep us on budget. The desk onboard will cash travellers checks for you, if needed.

#3 We don't take along towels they are provided by the ship. Make sure you bring your towel back onboard, some lines charge if you don't return the towel.

Dawn has three plugs. 110/220 switched plug in bathroom, 110 plug under shelf outside bathroom door and 110 plug by desk. Yes, a power stip comes in handy.

Only cash needed on ship itself is tips for room service. Most stores where ever you go take plastic.

3) is it worth bringing our own beach towels or should we just use what they have on board?

The towels provided vary from ship to ship. The best you can expect is the same as the in room bath towel. In short, nothing is as long as your standard "beach" towel.

I hope you have a wonderful cruise.:)

1. didn't need a power strip.

2. took cash and credit cards only. (already had the funds set aside to

pay off credit card bill when it arrived.)

3. used the ship's towels for the beach.

2. We have had good luck using the new traveller's check cards. We get them from our local AAA. You can use them like a credit card as well as like a debit card to withdraw local currency from ATMs, and they are protected, just like traveller's checks. You cannot, however, pay for your cruise with these cards on most cruise lines. RCI states that you cannot when you call them, and I believe the same is true for Carnival.
