lampkwp Posted March 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Can you pay for drinks with cash, I would like to keep up with my money, alot easier to do with cash compared to a card.
Racefan04 Posted March 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2007 The ships run on a cashless system. You can however pay cash to settle your account. All you need to do is set up a cash account with say $500 on it. ONce it gets low, you will be informed, and you can go down and apply more funds. Or you can pay with a credit card at the end. JENNIEROEBUCK Posted March 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2007 They Give You A Receipt With Each Purchase, I Believe. That's How I Kept Track Of My Spending Onboard Last Cruise. I Just Kept Filling Our Top Drawer With Receipts And Each Night I Would Total Them Up With The Calculator On My Cell Phone! Hey...whatever Works Right? emdia43 Posted March 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2007 I find it's better to stuff all the receipts in the drawer and just take a look on the last day- that way you only have to say OMG,IT CAN'T BE THAT MUCH CAN IT- once!:)
karena1 Posted March 23, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2007 I'm the same, I throw all my receipts in the draw and only look at the bill at the end of the cruise. It is what it is - it's not like I am going to stop drinking or buying stuff just because the bill is more than I want. I always allot plenty for my vacation so we don't have to worry about it. Just let it hit the CC and pay it off as soon as we get home. Enjoy your first cruise. You will be hooked like the rest of us!
nitlioner Posted March 23, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Depending on which ship you are sailing on, you may be able to keep track of your account on your on-room TV. I use it to keep track of how much my DW is spending in the casino.
OHCruisin Posted March 23, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Don't forget you can also check out where your spending is at on RCI TV. I don't even bother. I don't want to worry about it until the end.
emdia43 Posted March 23, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Checking on the TV does have it's uses if your kids have ability to spend on your card. I stopped some Video game spendamania last year- youngest grandson thought it was Christmas and birthday rolled into one and didn't realise how much he was racking up. Once I saw it and "alerted" him to how much he was spending it stopped...LOL:)
phantom728 Posted March 23, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 23, 2007 I wasn't sure how much to allot for our first cruise either. I don't drink alcohol, but DH does. I did buy the soda pkg for me which you pay for the first day on your seapass. I allotted $500 for my DH's drinking on our first cruise and he hit about $300 for the week (drink of the day is the best way to go $4 or $5). If you like to sit by the pool and drink all day, then definitely allot more. Friends of our hit about $1000 for the week just on alcohol. We spend some time by the pool, but like to explore the ship and keep active, especially with the abundance of food. We keep the cash at home and whatever we put on our CC gets paid off when the bill comes after we get home. We have a rewards card, so it's more points. Enjoy - once you start cruising you'll never want to stop.
SimplyAddicted Posted March 23, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 23, 2007 That is all part of their "master" plan... The cost doesn't seem real when you use the card. Then at the end..."I really spent that much!" Drinks really aren't priced outrageously. I spend more in any decent Philly bar per drink than on a cruise... reapfm Posted March 23, 2007 #13 Share Posted March 23, 2007 We Keep Our Receipts In The Top Drawer, And Each Night Check On What We Have Spent. By Checking Daily, You Have A Good Idea Of What The Total Should Be The Last Day. We Also Check The Tv, And If There Was Any Difference, Between Totals We Could Take Care Of It Immediately. Thankfully, Never Had A Problem. :)
