We have been sailing on RCL for a bit, and were thinking of doing a Eastern Carib in 2008. Have not sailed on a Carnival ship in quite awhile we have been reading up on the Miracle and have seen some really good reviews on her. Can anyone tell us what their experiences have been with the Miracle and what she is like we would really appreciate it.

Hi Dale,

I sailed on Miracle about a year and a half ago. Overall my family and I was really pleased with the Miracle, both the ship and the crew. The entertainment was great every night, they had some hilarious shows. Dinner was always very nice, and the waitstaff really tries their hardest.

My family was not particularly impressed with most of the food on the buffet, although the pizza, hamburgers, salad bar, and desserts were good. Dinner in the dining room was fine as well.

The ship is really a lot of fun and everyone I saw seemed to be having a good time. Our itinerary was a 7 day cruise and we stopped at Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Belize, and Cozumel. Before we went on the cruise we hadn't heard great things about Costa Maya but we loved it, it was very nice. We went to a beach away from the main tourist section (only about a ten minute cab ride to the beach), and it wasn't crowded at all in that section, there were plenty of bars, and the ocean was very nice and clean. We enjoyed the day there, and got to know some more people from the Miracle while we were there.

The ship is a really great ship, I feel it was very easy to find your way around and to get everywhere once you have been on for a couple hours. There is only one dining room which makes it extremely easy to get to. I have heard Nick & Nora's Supper Club is great although we didn't dine there.

I would recommend the Miracle to anyone looking to have a good time, it was a really great ship and it is fairly new still, it's just a few years old I believe.

I agree. The Miracle was a great ship. We had the best vacation ever. It was so easy to find your way around the ship. It was very clean, crew was fantastic, great food and entertainment. I can't say anything negative about the ship.

The Eastern Caribbean itinerary is one of our favorites and we cruised it last summer on the Elation with our 3 daughters to celebrat their graduations. In Cocoa Cay my hubby and the girls rented a little sailboat and had a fun time sailing around, while I lounged on the beach drinking a frosty cocktail.

We swam with the stingrays (this was a couple of weeks before Steve Erwin was killed or I wouldn't have done it.) We ate freshly caught conche on the beach.

The water is amazing...so clear, so warm, so blue! Ahhhhh! You couldn't ask for nicer beaches.

In Grand Turk we sat by the pool in Margaritaville and enjoyed the sun, the band and the fun atmosphere. Our girls had so much fun!

In St. Thomas we shopped......jewelry for all (well we were celebrating graduations....hehe!) and ate and then took a taxi tour of the island, stopping a various photo spots.

In San Juan we took a tour of the Baccardi Run factory and then walked around and ate at Senior Frogs. Now, keep in mind some of the activities we chose to keep our DD's happy!

Dinner each night was very nice. We were seated with another family of 5 and enjoyed their company. We got excellent service in the dining room (probably the best ever!) and enjoyed dancing in the congo lines and with our waiters!

The shows were very good and there was a nice variety. We attended most of them. We're not gamblers so I can't speak to the casino scene. Some of the things we did on the ship were: afternoon tea, the spa, the gym daily and the sushi bar (yum.)

The Elation is older than the Miracle but we found our cabins (adjoining) to be just fine. You will be in more updated cabins on the Miracle.

We cruised the Miracle in October and did the Western Carib, which IMO, is not nearly as interesting as the Eastern. So all in all, I think you've got a fine ship and an awesome intinerary to look forward to!

We did a family cruise on the Miracle last summer. My DH and I have cruised Carnival before and new what to expect. My brothers and their families, however, had only done RCCL prior to this. In a nutshell, we loved our cruise as always, but they were less than happy. They did think the food was wonderful, but did not like the decor of the ship at all. They thought it was very garrish, especially the dining room. We had a good time and the entertainment was wonderful, but I doubt we'll get them to sail on Carnival again.

i was surprised to hear from the pvp that there were only 2 dining times, b/c there is only one dining room:confused: . guess it works. any thoughts? i believe other ships i have been on that have 2 levels in the dining rooms still had 2 dining rooms on the ships. this ship isn't small:confused: so why?

My group of 12 absolutely loved the Miracle when we went last year out of Tampa. I didn't find the decor garish or gaudy but it was fun. The grapes in the dining room were a little bit of a shock the first night but didn't notice them after that.... We did Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Belize and had a good time at every port....

We sailed on the Miracle last fall and it's my favorite Carnival ship so far. We did a Western itinerary though. The size of the ship was just right, neither too large nor too small. The crew were great and despite missing a port due to bad weather, we had a wonderful time! My review is in the review section. :)

We were on the Miracle the week after Thanksgiving last year. All of us had a wonderful time. It's the first time we cruised on Carnival and the first time my son and his family have cruised.

My 2 grandaughters are asking, when can we go on a cruise again?

We just got off the Miracle in Feb. The dinning room isn't that bad. I understand that the toned it down a bit somewhere around November so I don't know how bad it used to be. We had a great time on the Miracle and would highly recommend her to anyone.

The purple grapes on the ceiling in the Bacchus and Ariadne dining rooms used to be pink!! When we were on the Miracle they were in the process of changing over the colors so we had a mix of both. Purple looks muuuuuuuuuuuuch better! :D

just how loud is the decor? i thought i read on here that many thought miracle was pretty. decor can't be louder than some fantasy class ships, can it? is it?

Think eclectic and artsy. It's definitely not understated. Vibrant colors but with and artistic flair. Check out the collections of art glass vases around the stairwells. Some of them are garish, others very beautiful.

We actually enjoyed the unusual decor - it definitely wasn't boring and lent a certain "atmosphere" to the ship.

I actually liked the decor for the most part. Didn't like the main staircase with mod wooden rails. It didn't make for a very nice group picture. The dining room was way, way over the top. I thought the dining room on the Triumph (and even the Fasination!) was much nicer. Saw that the OP went on both the Jewel and Radiance of the Seas - probably 2 of the prettiest vessels on the sea. So I just thought I would pre-warn him. My family is a more uptight than I am, so they weren't amused with Carnivals whimsical decor. They are more the glass & brass type. Here are a few of pics:

thanks for sharing. the atrium looks quite pretty. the dining room looks like a mardi gras float, LOL. funky pics on the elevator doors. well, it'll be different, that's for sure.

who said farcus toned things down after fantasy class? looks like he got worse in some regards.:D i know i'll enjoy it no matter what, but you are right about pics...if the decor is way out there, the pics won't be good, just "busy."

I would definitely say with the Miracle, Farcus went a little wild again. I think the other Spirit class ships are more subdued, by comparison. My dream cruise ship would be the fun, food and staterooms of Carnival mixed with the decor of RCCL...

Here are pictures of the decors on the stateroom doors:

these are stateroom doors? there's too much goin' on there for me, LOL, and decor doesn't usually bother me. are the hallways riddled w/ these mural type things? it must be like walking through a fun house.

I don't remember the exact count, but we had about 5 different of these type stateroom door artworks & they repeated themselves. We walked on different floors and they had some different ones. Yes, all doors had them - it was helpful in a weird way - off the elevator, take a right and the 2nd Robin Hood on left....haha.

Keep in mind that she is headed for New York the end of this month (April) and will call NYC home for awhile. Her crew and entertainment will probably change so you will get different reviews from what she is getting now.

The Miracle (class) has the best design of all the Carnival ships in my opinion. VERY easy to get around. Unlike the Conquest (class of ships).

You may find the Spirit Class ships a bit painful on the eye at first but you get used to the decor you will have a wonderful time. IMO it's the staff who make the cruise, and we had terrific people working on board the Miracle. I'd agree with an earlier poster that the buffet is sometimes is good rather than memorable, but the dining room food, service and organisation was excellent. Try Nick and Norah's for a special meal and find a reason to celebrate something, it really is a unique experience.

I will be sailing the Miracle out of NY on June 4th....I certainly hope she stays as wonderful as the reviews state she is now. I am so looking forward to this cruise. :D

Sandi, you will have a great time. The Miracle is the first of the Spirit class to go into dry dock for the new "Adult only" area re-fit. Looking forward to some reviews after the dry dock. We had an absolute blast.

I'm looking foward to your review Sandi. I hope they find some fabulous NYC style entertainment to put on this ship and also a friendly and competent staff and crew. Please let us hear from you when you return. We will be on the Miracle in July. Finally found a place for the FIVE of us to stay POST cruise in NYC as well (per our previous discussion).
