TropicalisRex Posted April 9, 2007 #53 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Fred & Wendy, So happy to "be along with you" on your cruise. I will be following this thread faithfully! Hubby and I are planning a September Cruise on Spirit's sister ship, Legend, to the W. Caribbean, so this "Live review" is awesome to us. No questions, just commendations. Have a beautiful, wonderful cruise! Hope you get your money back next go 'round in the casino! ~Liz~
Wildewoman Posted April 9, 2007 #54 Share Posted April 9, 2007 How cool to be there with you!! We don't sail until Sept, 17, 2008 - Alaska. Quick first timer questions: Do you wear your ship~n~sail on a lanyard or on a wrist bracelet thing - or just carry it in your pocket? Is the cappucino free in the dining room after dinner? I have heard it is & then it isn't. Thanks & I can't wait to read more!! Linda
Wheels007 Posted April 9, 2007 #55 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Hope you have the best of time on this cruise. Can you please let us know about the CVC what all the new rules are? Thank you very much and have a cold one for me I will be on the Pride next week. Hope we pass each other on the way I will be waving to you as we pass each other. Karysa Posted April 9, 2007 #56 Share Posted April 9, 2007 I too love the live reports. Fred, why do you think the line up to speak to the maitre de is so long? If they ask you what you prefer prior to your cruise you would think that time preferences and table requests would be done in a first come first served manner, add to that platinum members, health issues etc. This would seem fair and understandable to most people one would think. I know your on vacation and i dont want to inturrupt any of it, But if you get a chance, Please give regards to Petar...he is a deck pool waiter, Tall and just a joy to have around. He will know me as Mr. Thomas (I try to have them just call me Tom.....but they insist on the Mr. thing...lol). And as My Last request.......when your in the casino...(hope your luck is better then mine was), Please tell Doug (the entertainer) that Tom and Dori say Hi, and hope all is well with Him, and i havent forgotten about the pics....ill send soon. Tenga1899 Posted April 9, 2007 #62 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Hooray FRED!! I'm just happy you are staying connected. When I read posts your one of the characters I think I can rely on for some good insider info. Obviously all these people on here must think the same because they have been salivating over your live post for a week or so now at least...:) Have a fun cruise, your already increasing my anticipation of my first to unbearable levels :D
terri910 Posted April 9, 2007 #63 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Fred, is the late dinner seating the one you wanted? The reason I ask is my understanding is that as CVC members you are supposed to have a "guarantee" that you will get the dinner seating you want, and I'd like to know whether this is actually being done since CVC no longer has reps on board. Hubby & I are counting on it on the Freedom in about 4 weeks. We have NEVER been assigned the dinner seating we've requested, and it's one of the reasons we joined CVC.... Wennfred Posted April 9, 2007 Author #69 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Up this Morning, its 8am We got up this morning, Slept really good !!! didnt know what time it was because since we don't have a window, its total darkness in this cabin.. its 8am and we got ready to go to Breakfast, we headed one flight up to Lido and Wendy got her Omlete, I got my 2 over medium. This is new, No More Hockey Pucks for potatos, they now serve hash browns and the hash browns taste way better then the old taters. We also got some fruits and our favorite passion juice. Lido wasn't crowded at 8:30am, most people were still in bed. Up on Deck We went up on deck, and took a walk, the pools have water in them but the water is also cold. No Chair Hogs yet as its still cloudy and overcast so Im sure they will be out later in numbers when the Sun comes out to play. We did see 4 lounge chairs in front of one of the pools with 4 new carnival towels on them, one still had the paper wrap around it lol. The Dome part over one of the pools was about 15% out, looks like it will surely cover the band below. Internet Internet seems to be down, getting very good signal here in the cabin but, the CCL webpage isn't coming up, going to have to go to the Internet cafe to see whats going on. Just returned from there, The Internet is currently down for maintaince, I also found out that the Spirit has WIFI from bow to stern now. They installed Phillips WIFI antennas in the hallway. Im about 15 feet from one of those antennas and thats why Im able to post in my cabin now. Casino Room Casino last night wasn't smoky at all but you can still smell it. For Texas Hold'em players, they now have 2 or 3 Electronic Texas Hold'em Tables, yep, no more playing cards or dealers, it will take a while to get used to punching in your bets, checks or folds.. Its all self playing, no dealers. This is how they do their tournaments. There is a timer of 30 sec. to make your move, no poker face with this game. Tonights Shows Standing Room Only staring the Carnival Spirit Dancers of course and Stephanie Bell & Jason Pritchett. Live Music by Dave Fulton and his Spirit Orchestra. R-Rated Adult Comedy with Mrs. Hughes, this I will not miss !!! as I love Comedy Shows. Ships Store I was very surprise, they had everything you could ever want, if you forgot anything, they had it, from Meds, Toiletries etc. For those that do Smoke, they also had every major brand cigarettes, Marlboro, Marlboro Lites, Marlboro Ultralites, Winstons and Winston Lites, Salems, Kools, Camels, Benson & Hedges. No Merits. They also had almost everything on sale, t-shirts from 4.99 to 9.99, The Blue Photo album was 16.95 and the White Photo album with the ships picture in the front was 22.95. Funnel Deck The Funnel Deck is wide open no longer an Adult Sun Tanning area. there are still lounge chairs up there and its nice and quiet, no one to bug you there. Lunch Time 11am and the internet is still down, the Grille doesn't open till 11:30am so we are going to look for our photos and walk around some more. 12:15pm, its finally nice outdoors, the sun is out, we are cruising and having a great time, Had my Minute Steak with fries and some apple juice. The internet is finally up so I can post this. This time all of the tongs were out so you can serve yourself at the Grille. NepturnesGoddess, I went to your wraparound cabin on the 4th deck, and the WIFI signal is very good there too. so bring your laptop. Seafun, thank you very much, there were no sounds above us last night, we slept like a ROCK ! Thanks again. Davidt1968, We are taking the Historical La Paz city tour, will let you know more about it when we get there. The Cruise Director is Ryan Fitzgerald, havent met him yet. Runcassrun07, Wheels007, Wanderingjew, While posting, I just got a call from Magen, she is the Carnival Group Coordinator and is responsible for anything we need (CVC members) while onboard, she told me that she can be reached at 7777 or the Pursers Deck. So far so good. Reggierail, I will check about the balcony separators soon. Wildewoman, I will check about the Cappucino tonight, I always keep my Sail & Sign in my front pockets because with the Lanyard it can snag around the staircase bannister and leave you a nice mark around your neck, I've seen this happen. Also the last thing you need while crossing over to a Tender is a line around your neck, it can snag and into the water you go between the boats. Also seen it happen, its not a pretty sight. Karysa and Truecruiser, some times even if you select Earily dining, when you arrive onboard you will be placed in Late dining, thats what happened here yesterday. But this was the first time I have seen the line being so long. Kellywhitehills, The Downy Wrinkle Releaser did work, the trick was to spray and leave it in the shower while the hot water ran, no more wrinkles. Nursing Student, oh heck ya, this is my first time in an upper deck cabin, you can feel more motion up here big time, still not enough to make us Sick, but someone that is very sensitive to motion sickness would freak out. Tom C. I will keep an eye out for Petar and Doug and pass on the info. Terri910, Yes we selected late dining, we will stay with late for now on because, its less rushed and by 8:15pm we are ready to eat again. Contact the Group Coordinator there and he or she will handle your seating arrangements if you have any problems. Keep them coming !!! Wildewoman Posted April 9, 2007 #70 Share Posted April 9, 2007 O.K. - we have a suite (Category11) cabin 6329 - do they have DVD players in them? We could bring movies if they do. WIFI - how much are you paying? $0.75 a minute seems really high! Thanks so much for the answers!! Linda
gumballz Posted April 9, 2007 #71 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Fred, thank you so much for all your answers. Enjoy your cruise and your time with Wendy. If you want to share any more photos, we'd be happy to view them! :)
nursing student Posted April 9, 2007 #72 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Fred thanks for telling me about the motion. We own a small boat and went fishing with the husband one time and i did nothing but got sea sick and throw up and had to go to sleep. So i'm on the phone right now on hold with carnival.com to change the rooms. they are giving me two new rooms. Room #6202 and 6206. I hope this is way better rooms in terms to not feeling any motions. If anybody can suggest what floor of the ship where i can't feel any motion please do let me know. I just don't want motion sickness to ruin my long awaited curise. I want to have fun just like Fred and Wendy are having and all of you who are so lucky to have already cruised and cruised and cruised again and again...you get what i mean:) :D . thanks again. Please keep the updates coming.
gumballz Posted April 9, 2007 #73 Share Posted April 9, 2007 nursing student...you probably want to get as low as you can get and as close to the center of the ship as possible. That's where the least amount of movement is felt. Take ginger pills/candy with you just in case. :)
TropicalisRex Posted April 9, 2007 #74 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Thank you so much for the reports!..My DH and I will be on the Spirit July 4th and will be our first cruise..:) I cant wait for your next post! Tell me did the Downey Wrinkle Free stuff work?? Downy Wrinkle Release works great --- I hate ironing, and I use that a lot. My boss originally told me about it. Thing is --- you want your clothing hung up, spray on the Wrinkle Release, and then kind of tug at the wrinkled spots. Does a great job!
NeptunesGoddess Posted April 9, 2007 #75 Share Posted April 9, 2007 I went to your wraparound cabin on the 4th deck, and the WIFI signal is very good there too. so bring your laptop. OH MY GOODNESS! Fred, you did not have to do that! I just can not believe you did that for me. I also noticed you remembered from your live from the Pride posts about my merit question. You are amazing! Thank you so much. I hope you hit a jackpot in the casino, you deserve that great karma coming your way for being such a helpful, giving person.
