What to wear in the casino?

I need the fashion police. I've seen a lot of comments about not wearing shorts (I thought this was a vacation?) so I'm wondering what one wears in the evening, after dinner, when they go to the casino  .

You have been on 8 cruises and never visited the casino:confused: Or do you just want to know what we wear?

HA. I live in the casino every night! However the comments I've seen lately from people who don't think shorts are appropriate anywere have got my a bit worried. One person said shorts should only be worn on the Lido deck or when you are on excursions. Thought maybe I was on a differnt planet :D

I think you're on the same planet as most of us! :D I'm not sure what you saw, but shorts are definitely the norm during the day and you'll see plenty at night. I don't know about shows as I usually don't go, but other than dinner, there isn't any other place I know where you can't wear shorts.

I have bought dresses and heels specifically for the casino - pathetic I know! :D

I'm going for the whole James Bond idea of cruising.

Not pathetic at all! If it makes you feel good, then go for it!

I belive it was on the wild thread that was going yesterday about jeans in the dining room yada yada yada and it got out of hand and someone pointed out that shorts are "tacky" and should only be seen around the Lido and on excursions. Got me thinkin!! Maybe I'm tacky???

All you need in the casino is cash or good credit. If you have no clothes they will be glad to rent you clothes until you run out of money.

mlpreston,

I always dress nice when in the casino. And I spend lots of time in the casino. Not for anyone else just because I can and I like too.

I think everyone should dress in what ever they feel comfortable in. It is your vacation dress how ever you like. Have a ball enjoy your cruise and do not worry about what the other person has on.

I thought the exact same thing when I read this post.

I don't get it !

Whew. I feel so much better now. Thank you!!

Again, I don't get it ? Just wear what you wore the 1st 8 cruises.

I found it interesting that people would go to the casino in their bathing suits (with coverup of course). In checking my last Capers, I noticed that there is nothing that says you can't do that, just that a "shirt" is required in the pubic areas on decks 2, 3 and the entertainment lounges. That was for the Miracle. I guess I'm just used to land-based casinos where that doesn't happen. I've never noticed if people were wearing swimsuits in the ships' casinos. I'm too busy trying to win! :D

On one of my cruises I was sitting outside the casino just people watching and this man and woman came strolling down, he was wearing boxer shorts and a t-shirt and she had on a bathrobe, they walked into the casino and sat at a blackjack table and played for about an hour and no one said a word to them. They were not a young couple but about 60, old enough to know better. Linda

This must be a new fashion trend that I'm not aware of! Where does one find a 'pubic area shirt', if I might ask?

Hmmmm, at the public area store? :D

I've seen people show up in the buffet still in bathrobes and curlers! Ya gotta wonder what kind of night THEY had! :D
